I met someone like me the other day.
I had forgotten that the cafeteria closes for a half an hour to reset for lunch and arrived on campus about 5 minutes after it closed. So I sat out in the commons and waited. About 5 minutes later, a girl walks into my field of vision, looking a little lost. So I do what I am told is the polite thing when her field of vision crosses mine, I nod.
Uh. Oh. She sat down with me. Is she gonna like me? Am I gonna be hurt and confused after this? But then she started talking. She's drinking a protein drink (ensure or activa I think) and we start talking about vitamins and vitamin water and vitamin water packets. Then it moves on to crafts, and beading, crochet, and wire work come up. Then I mention that I am sitting here because I forgot that the food place closes, and she did too! So I'm all relaxed by now.
We continue on in this way until I ask what time it is (by this time I am really hungry) It is about time for it to reopen, so I ask if she wants to go see if the doors are open. We walk. They aren't. When we get there though she introduces herself. Shannon. I'm Kit (oo look folks, we talked for half an hour with out exchanging pleasantries and the world didn't end)
The door opens, we go in, get our food (by ourselves don't have to babysit each other to get our own food) Go sit down and spend the next hour talking about random stuff. Real food, school, citric acid, books, crafts, family. Both of us forget words throughout the conversation.
About noon lots of people start coming in, and it starts getting loud. So I get up, she looks a little lost as to why, so I remember to give an explanation. "It's a little crowded in here for me, and class is gonna be in an hour, if you wanna walk with me...?" She looks better about why I got up.
So we walk. We talk. She bought me a chocolate dipped cherry. Her class wasn't far from mine. She has to go do some lab homework. I say bye. We both go our seperate ways.
If anyone knows Shannon, Room 307 (i don't know which dorm). She has my number in her phone. I would like to see her again.
