|
|
Medical marijuana is a treatment for ADHD and Asperger's in the state I am in (California), it is much cheaper then other prescribed drugs, yet the benefits seem endless. I have taken MMJ since I was 14, I had smoked marijuana earlier and it had shown on my blood test. I got caught the doctor had asked how it had made me feel. I explained I do not get abnormal anxiety or sensory overload was gone and I was able to keep calm in a tense situation. We began looking into MMJ and we were shocked to find it was already a treatment for ADHD and Asperger's syndrome. I was referred to a specialist in the field of Asperger's Syndrome and ADHD combined type. We began a clinical trial and found my coordination problems (common with AS) had remarkably improved in a 4 month period. I was also able to overcome a learning disorder. When I would have an anxiety attack, I did not need to go to the hospital if I used the vaporizer form because it was able to lessen the anxiety. After a year on the MMJ I was able to bypass stopping points I had in my life. Such as anxiety caused by talking to the opposite sex. Understanding how others felt (Emotions) to a near 82% level from a 12% level previously. This might sound crazy, but I believe marijuana saved my social life. I have not had a sensory overload sense I was 14 years old. My other friend I met in 10th grade who has ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome has also seen vast improvement sense he began using mmj.
When it comes to things like this I think everyone should have the right to smoke marijuana if they so wish because I would have never known about it without trying it out. I would like to hear the thoughts and opinions on this matter. |

how does it compare to just smoking the stuff?

Erm, the THC gets you high....I don't think that's medical MJ....you're smoking hemp if that's the case.
EDIT: wiki confirms it
| Quote: | | Tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC, Δ9-THC, Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol), Δ1-tetrahydrocannabinol (using an older numbering scheme), or dronabinol, is the main psychoactive substance found in the Cannabis plant. |

EDIT 2: maybe the THC is decreased,,, _________________ I am a Star Wars Fan, Warsie here.

Hi there,
Here in Holland we have so called 'Coffeeshops' and when you're over 18 everybody can buy Marijuana or hashees(?) legally. Which is a good thing; the rigid system you got in the States where you end up in jail simply by have it on you seems ridiculous to me. A smoker, a criminal? Why?
We make a distinction between the so called 'hard' and 'soft' drugs. Marijuana is soft, some herbs like Salvia and some mushrooms are too. Coke, speed, heroïn, extasy and others are considered harddrugs and therefore illegal. I think it's a sensible approach. Oh, yeah; kids at schools get a bit of education about this topic, I must say.
We got a lot of marijuana users here and not that much trouble around(?) it but I belief one of the lowest percentages of addicts or problem-users of harddrug users in the Western World.
Autism and the use of marijuana? I use it sometimes but only in quite small proportions.
When I use the stuff my hear-sensibillity tends to get overwhelming annoying and I don't recommend it but I quess everybody has its own experiences and it depends on your own situation. I hear that ADHD-ers can profit using it but I don't know.
Good topic, thou and I'll return on it, sometimes.
Best of luck to you all,

Everywhere should be legalising it. It's helped me a lot when I was smoking (and eating) it, with social issues (i used to go everywhere stoned) but moreso with sleep - I find I have massive problems making my mind quieten down when I need to sleep and MJ was always one of the things that could make me go to sleep at reasonable times without me having to use harsh and dangerous pharms.
Personally I still think it's illegality is down to the petrochemical industry not from any dangers inherent in its use - not only is MJ a potent painkiller the plant can be used to make rubber, oils, plastic, fuel, textiles, paper and food. It also happens to grow anywhere and you can go from soil to a huge forest of MJ plants in 3 months. Now that had to be bad for the biz of anyone involved in pumping certain black substances from the ground! |

I believe that "medical marijuana" is just what they call regular marijuana when somebody finds a doctor with the integrity to think about something other than the profits of the pharmaceutical companies in a state where people elect legislators with IQ's larger than their shoe sizes.
And I think vaporizors are a means to get the active ingredients into your lungs without inhaling the other garbage that goes along with inhaling any form of smoke.

I'm in the same boat, but it's been a lot longer than 3 weeks. Alcohol totally sucks, but I don't have to inspire trust in people with my dazzling aspie personality to get somebody to sell it to me.
It's ironic that weed clearly helps a lot of aspies, but aspergers often makes it impossible to obtain. _________________ Brother Pteranodon, I would have loved your wings;

I don't recommend it, because of the risk of side effects. Side effects that include being put in jail, probably one of the most hostile environments possible for an Aspie. Unless you grow your own, you don't know somebody hasn't put drain cleaner in it or something, and if you do, you've got too much for it to be a misdemeanor in most states. So stay away.
Oh, and it can mess with your brain permanently, even years after you've been off it. So this isn't some experiment you can take or leave; it's more like taking antipsychotics that could stick with you for years. _________________ Engineering student. Gamer. Christian. Asexual. No studies have shown any positive effect for neurological stuff. But it is awfully hard to get a grant to study an illegal drug. And impossible to get one to study it in kids. I don't think the research has even been done yet for ADHD or Asperger's.
For teenagers, your prospects are even worse: You may be sent off to an abusive reform school. Kids have died at those places... Not worth it. Trust me. _________________ Engineering student. Gamer. Christian. Asexual. Information Addict. Deal with it!
