Silicon Valley Icons to Send DNA into Space

Quote:
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NCsoft’s® Operation Immortality™ has added three of Silicon Valley’s most celebrated minds to the growing list of notable names who are sending their digitized DNA into space.

Question Question Question

What does that even mean?

Is bob the space alien supposed to
a) recognise that the steaming meteroite in his front yard contains some digitized data and

b) have the necessary equipment (including a computer with a compatible operating system) in the proper form and format to retrieve that data that

c) recognises and decodes that data in the proper format and

d) identify this huge dump of coded data as a genetic code for specific individuals and

e)interpret that data,

f)giving him an idea of what humans are?

This is a prime example of people who have more money than sense.

If we are sending only their digitalized DNA sequence into outer space, it definitely doesn't represent humanity as a whole. I see it as pointless. It is also an assumption that "anyone out there" would be interested in this information.
