My dad does this all the time... sucking on his teeth to clean them rather than going into the bathroom to brush or floss. It drives me f***ing crazy and it really DOES feel like sensory rape (honestly, the noise is like an attack, like physical force... I often wonder if there's such a thing as audio-proprioception synesthesia because I get a sense of being pushed or shoved down when certain noises happen). I'm not sure what to recommend, but I just want you to know that I can sympathize.

I am an adult with AS, and I have a bf who also has AS. Unfortunatly we have found out that some of the things that send me into sensory overload mainly sounds, he stims. I can deal with it ok, just not when his family or my friends laugh at us. But I guess were pretty entertaining, us on the couch him squealing and clicking his tounge, and me screaming and flaping off of the couch holding my ears until he stops.
