I'm sorry that I did not make myself clear, normally_impaired. I fully agree with everything you are saying. I was only correcting a detail which I felt you should be clear about, before anyone tried to use that minor slip as an argument against the rest of what you say.

I stand corrected, but even still, since Thimerosal has not been used in children since 2001 (I know the wikipedia article says 1999, but other sources say that it took 2 years to use up the lasting supplies since the ban went into effect), the case of anyone under 7 years of age getting Autism from a vaccine is inaccurate.
Although Mercury does cause brain damage, and sometimes this damage may cause symptoms somewhat simillar to Autism, there has not been any proof to date that it actually does cause Autism.
It just scares me that people will refuse to protect their children from serious illnesses based on the idea that vaccines will cause Autism.

I was told to look him up after explaining in complete detail in a myspace group why vaccines are not the cause of Autism, they said the man is a doctor so he knows what he's talking about.
I looked up some information on him, and yes, he is a doctor, Dr. David Kirby, but it's a doctorate in English, that's right, he's an English professor. What's more is that the man has absolutely no medical background. I took a look through Evidence of Harm while I was at a bookstore, the whole book is about how apparently most employees of the FDA have stock interests in the pharmecutical companies, which is the reason that they deny that vaccines pose any risk of Autism.
For a little background, the idea that vaccines cause Autism comes from the fact that some vaccines contain the preservative Thimerosal, which contains minuscule trace amounts of Ethyl Mercury. Despite the fact that Thimerosal containing vaccines have been banned in the US and the UK since 2001 (except for an inactivated influenza vaccine for children 2 years or older), and despite the complete lack of evidence that the trace amounts of mercury in Thimerosal have anything to do with Autism, people read this guy's conspiracy theories as if it's the bible.

Is that book probably how this myth had been spread despite many unbiased scientific studies?
It had already spread, but the book spread it even more.

Who's David Kirby ?
An "investigative journalist". He wrote the book Evidence of Harm, about the mercury-autism fallacy, and is now misleading thousands of Huffington Post readers.
He's an idiot of the worst kind.
