There was a "son-rise" fan woman on the brefiender training that I did. She didn't actually have an autistic child but had some how got involved with it. The NAS doesn't officially support or disapprove programs like this. But to be fair on the trainer she said that the in her personal opinion the "sun-rise" program puts a lot of pressure on parents to succeed and make them feel like their have failed if they don't get their child follow the program rigidly. I hadn’t actually heard of "son-rise" at the time, but I took the opportunity to mention the cure obsession and autism speaks, etc.
I also read that there was quite a lot of doubt that Raun, the little boy who the son rise programme was pioneered on, even had Asperger's.

Also another thing that she mentioned, was how you have to turn one room in the house into the "son-rise room". This is going to be problematic for many people.

Post subject: The Lancaster and Morecambe Citizen: Bring Back Jake appeal
The latest article
I've just sent this...

As Jake seems to have been "brought back" already, what will the money raised be spent on?
I know that sounds harsh, but I feel that the other 1 in 100 people in Jake's area, who also happen to be autistic, may feel it is inappropriate to pass the money over to the dubious American couple who own "The Son-Rise Program®".
Why not, for instance, donate the funds to the NAS (National Autistic Society) in our own country?
I wonder if it will stay there for long?
PS. The 1 in 100 is the NAS's estimate for the UK.
PPS. There was an earlier thread on this, about a year ago, but I haven't manage to dig it out.
