[ I have no idea what Barbara's talking about when she mentions "threats of violence or stalking", unless she considers taking signatures at his conferences to be "stalking" - This has been an entirely civil campaign. I actually managed to talk to Tony personally about the issue, and it was a discussion with no bad feeling on either side - although getting him to commit in writing to some of the things he said in person has been difficult...
Good. You haven't got a clue about Harry's agenda - even though you've read it on here. Clearly. Tony has no problem, at all. Nor have I. Threats of violence - do you want the now cleared threats from Harry's blog? Shall we start with this one: "The right question is not where's my Aston hatchet job; it's, where's yours? So don't get cute with me Jacobs or I'll kick your arse in an entirely non-metaphorical manner."
I'm glad he issued a statement and I believe what he's saying about trying to educate FAAS people.
I signed the petition and I feel relieved by his response.

Will do! May have some news regarding ASPIA soon...

There's a woman on YouTube who goes on about this "Cassandra disorder" or whatever it is, and it seems rather hokey. There's a growing amount of divorcee NT women who seem to have a huge grudge against their AS husbands. Though their grudges may be warranted, it seems that there bad experiences have painted a particular brush over everyone with AS for them; and they seem to be on a crusade to warn other women of the "dangers" of getting involved with an Aspie. Just check out YouTube or blogs and such where these women voice their opinions.
I've read through some of the threads in the Delphi forum called ASpartners last night. I'm still reeling. For a group of people who claim aspies have no empathy, they certainly have little to zilch empathy themselves. Why the hell can't these women even give a little understanding and support to the AS partners/spouses? I was actually thinking about going on dating sites myself recently but I don't know how well things will go in the long run if they google Asperger's find some of the crap they talk about there.
Before we get off the topic though, EvilZak can you please continue posting here if there are any updates on the campaign. I would like to know how it goes.

Thanks EvilZak. I'm not a member of your website and I found that I can't read the topic where the petition is spoken about.
That would be right - when we're organizing campaigns, we tend to do it in the members-only "Campaigns and Initiatives" section so we can't be pre-empted by people stumbling across the details in Google.
For those who are members, or are interested in joining, this is the thread we're talking about:

Signed. I have one more question. Will I get a reply back as to how it goes?
Probably not from the petition, but I'll be keeping everyone updated on what's happening from my site (
http://www.spectrumites.com/
), and I can keep posting here whenever anything happens, too...

Yay! *grins*
I just passed on ASAN's contact details to you via PM - they're the best people to ask what's happening, especially in the US.

Westernwild, I think you've gotten so uptight about that statement from FAAAS that I posted a link to, that you completely missed the question I asked in my post. What is the current status of the petition?
Still ongoing. Tony Attwood's currently on a speaking tour of The UK & US, which makes it a bit tricky to negotiate - hopefully when he returns things will move forward a bit quicker.
I'm hoping to have organised a bit more on-the-ground support for the campaign in Brisbane by that time, as I think it's very easy to ignore people signing petitions & sending emails, but not so easy to ignore a group of people collecting signatures at a conference.
To put it another way, the campaign will be ongoing until Tony removes his name from FAAAS's Professional Advisory Board, or at least until he gets some serious bad press from not doing so.
(To clarify, I'm not actually running the campaign - I'm just someone in contact with Ari who happens to live in Brisbane).

I'm sorry, Jono, but I don't know what the current status of the petition is since I'm not in charge of it and didn't post it. I'd be curious to know that myself. Anyone know?
