Like I said, not everybody is mentally, emotionally, or financially equipped to raise a child with special needs.
Those who use this argument seem to miss one point: if someone does not feel they can handle raising a child with special needs, they should not have children at all. Why? Because even if they give birth to a "perfect" child, an accident can leave them with a brain injury and turn them into a special needs child at any moment. This is not just a theoretical point. I know a guy who is 32, and his mother is still taking care of him, because at age 16, he was in a car accident and suffered a head injury. Things like this happen. Pretending that "birth defects" are the only problem is altering the circumstances to suit a particular argument. If a person feels that they cannot handle having a child who is not "perfect", and thus believes there would be a need for genetic testing - then they should simply forgo having children altogether. Because those tests are not perfect - my niece was told her baby would have Downs, the doctors tried to force her to have an abortion, but she managed to refuse, and her son is now 17 and perfectly fine - and even if they were, they cannot guarantee what will happen later in life.
It's the neurotypicals who should be cured.

That's stupid. Generation Rescue will not lay their filthy hands on me, or the future generations of autistics. I will not allow for that to happen. What era are they living in? 1930s and 40s Germany?
My thoughts exactly CockneyRebel. They better not come to my house.

As I understand it they would consider that they want to get rid of 'Autism' that might be described as 'classic' or 'Kanners' Autism.

I think sometimes what is necessary for sites like Generation Rescue, which I actually like, is to define what they mean by "reversable" and/or "recovery." I think these things mean different things to different people. For some, they mean the elimination of the person or the person's essence. To others, it means the elimination of debilitating symptoms that don't allow the person to live a healthy, safe, productive, and independent life. Sometimes, it really comes down to semantics.
I hope nobody takes offense. I'm like "Switzerland." I'm neurtral and am open to different perspectives.
God Bless!
are you aware that generation rescue is anti vaccine?

If she didn't want a child she shouldn't have got herself pregnant, but that's a separate issue from getting rid of a baby just because it could have autism.
Because having a baby is so damn easy? You just sit around for 9 months and then the baby comes out - no pain, no health complications, no risk of death, permanent injury and psychological damage?
You have no idea what kind of hell it is to have an unwanted child inside of you. You have no idea what kind of hell pregnancy wreaks on a woman's body. I am so sick of people saying that is a woman doesn't want to be forced with 9 months of torture, the slut should keep her legs shut. Pregnancy is a major health burden that carries the risk of death - but a microscopic clump of cells deserves much more consideration than an actual living breathing human being, after all, she's merely a woman.
So I guess your just a big clump of cells?
If the big clumps of cells have 'rights' over the microscopic clumps of cells it goes to show what we know, the strong prevail over the weak; might is right. Theres parallels there between those with autism and those without if you want to look.

I'm unclear on one part.
Do they have any means of telling if the fetus will be a non-functional intellectually impaired autist? Or only in the autism spectrum, like Einstein; Hitler
(as far as I know, he fits); the good people on wrong planet etc. etc.
I'm unsure what they mean, too...I would be going to extremes if they ment all the spectrum, but I'm sure they mean the LFA's, MFA's, and people with extreme Asperger's and a comorbidity...not sure, exactly, but I think they'd pick out people like me who can't deal with loud classrooms, argues with teachers when they aren't fair, and goes into panic attacks or episodes of depression and possible hypomania (one of my friends, who is bipolar, thinks that I'm bipolar instead of Aspie).

The removing of NT people from the world would create global collapse.
It takes both we autistics and the NT population together to make the world function properly.
Both are necessary, but even together both are not sufficient. We're not the only kind of neurodiverse.
That's a good point. What are the other diversities?
Everything else in the DSM. The bipolar people, schizophrenic people, depressed people, Obsessive Compulsive people, neurotic people, synasthesiatic people (the ones who hear colors and other cross-sensing) etc. However disabling these things are, it seems that in so many people who have added to world culture and science, they seem like they have something that would be found in the DSM. How many religious mystics were schizophrenic? How many artists were bipolar or depressed? etc.
