Ok now my question while waiting for next week is... which undefeated team is the most surprising to you?
South Florida, without a doubt. They didn't even have a football team until 1997. 11 years later they are division 1a, in a BCS conference, and ranked in the top 25 for the first time ever. And they play a very tough opponent this week- West Virginia. Should be a good game.
Speaking of that particular game, if you don't want to miss it remember that it is tomorrow and not on Saturday. Boise State plays somebody tonight. I predict that WVU will win. It's being played in Florida but USF beat WVU last time which ruined WVU's season last year and I would not want to face WVU in a revenge game. USF is very good though. I watched them beat Auburn in Auburn stadium on TV. USF missed 4 field goals in that game and still won. What was even more impressive was that they did it with defense and the running game. Their QB Matt Grothe I think is just as good as Pat White, they have a good running back, too, although he's not exactly Steve Slaton. I think the Cal/Oregon game may be very interesting. Given up on the Saints skafather after that debacle on Monday night? With the way LSU is playing that's understandable. Geaux Tigers. And how stupid was Mike Vick to get caught stoned?
My eye will be on Georgia-Hawaii. If Hawaii pulls the upset though, there will probably be some #1 AP votes for them.
You're right about how USC hasn't gotten to play a real SEC team recently, especially disappointing because of all the talk about how great the SEC is. Last USC-SEC matchup I think was in 2003 when USC absolutely creamed Auburn.

I think Ohio State will get beaten yet again.

That will be a great game.

The way this season has gone I thought they might as well have just sent Hawaii, it would've made a better story. Hey, at least they knew how not to lose to unranked teams.
I wonder who wins the Heisman? My guess is Tebow, he wouldn't be my first pick but that's who I get the feeling they'll choose.

So what did people think about how things turned out? I thought LSU deserved to make it to the championship game--they ended up winning the toughest conference and would have been undefeated but for 2 triple OT games. Pretty much most of the other teams with losses had at least one loss that was embarrassing. Not so with LSU.
Ohio State I'm skeptical of--their conference was really weak this year and I really don't think they're going to do any better than last time. I will be interested to see the game, but I think USC or Oklahoma were probably more deserving. Of those, I'd probably prefer to see USC go up against LSU--we've never really seen USC have to go up against a quality SEC team.
I'll be interested to see Oklahoma and West Virginia play, though. Don't know if USC and Illinois will be that great of a matchup. I'll probably check out Georgia and Hawaii too.

Some things don't change. Les Miles was known for bone-headed playcalling at Oklahoma State. I was surprised when LSU hired him.
This truly has been the Year of the Underdog. Hopefully it will help bring us closer to a playoff system.

i think the entire ranking system will crumble if south florida gets a championship game.
there's too much talent in the SEC and it ends up counting against them because almost every team in the SEC (except those in mississippi) can beat any team.
i'd hardly say LSU losing is as much a strike for them to fall far in the charts as much as it is a reason for kentucky to be moved up.
but i will say....stupid playcalling by miles and too many penalties killed LSU and they could have won had they not given up over 100 yards in penalties.

The Cowboys game was frustrating to watch. They fight to take a lead, only to completely fold after a couple bad calls from the refs, they just seemed to give up which was unforgivable.
In college it was a rough day for the unbeatens. We lost almost half of them. Five of the 11 went down. Cal was killed by their backup freshman QB's boneheaded play at the end. Cincinnati just didn't have enough offense. Connecticut lost because of poor officiating and horrible snaps late by their center. Missouri was just too sloppy. LSU was victimized by their schedule and their moronic DT who thought he could get away with a cheap shot.
On an interesting note, according to the BCS standings if the National Championship were played today it would be Ohio State versus USF (Only Undefeated School in Florida as they are now called).
There are no more potential matchups of undefeateds for this entire season.
Excluding the National Championship of course.
After 7 weeks 6 undefeated teams remain. This list is getting short, there may not be any left soon.
Arizona State Sun Devils (7-0)
Boston College Eagles (7-0)
Hawaii Warriors (7-0)
Kansas Jayhawks (6-0)
Ohio State Buckeyes (7-0)
South Florida Bulls (6-0)

IF USF went undefeated they would be in the National championship game for sure. They have a murderous schedule and unlike Boise State of last year, USF is a BCS team, so they don't have to do as much as Boise did. They're already in the top 5.
3 QBs went down in the NFL that I heard. Next week Cleo Lemon will start for the Fins, Kurt Warner for the Cards, and David Carr for The Panthers. How do you think they'll do?
The Cowboys Pats game isn't even the Sunday nighter, it's on Sunday at 3:15 ct. Talk about bad scheduling.

Allowing Randy Moss to go to the Patriots is just unfair. I think New England is the best team in the NFL by far right now.
My team is the Jaguars and they are doing pretty good as the running game is starting to pick back up again with Taylor and Jones-Drew. They just need better WR play to go with the defense starting to step back up again. The Jags could sneak into the playoffs.
My college team is FSU and things aren't so great there obviously. Xavier Lee might be missing the game Thursday night against Wake Forest from what I heard on the radio. That is bad news indeed as Weatherford has looked like crap this year. The good news is that UF and Miami lost. I love seeing USC and Notre Dame lose, very sad that the Golden Domers got their first win.

Who just saw the end of the Cowboys game.
They're 5-0, but I never thought it would be like that. Not 5 picks and a fumble by Romo including a pick late in the 4th. Not missing the game tying 2 point conversion with 20 seconds left and then making the onside kick. Not having TO's catch at the 25 and spiking it dramatically with 1 second left only to have it ruled incomplete upon review. Not having the rookie kicker kick the game winner from 53 twice because the Bills took a timeout the first time! I expected a trap or a blowout, I hope that doesn't take too much gas out of their tanks for the game against New England who already has a one day jump on them.
The Cowboys are the only unbeaten left in the NFC, after some luck. If they beat the Patriots next week I will be convinced that they are the best team in the NFL.
romo cost me a game in fantasy....i tied instead of winning. the only two players in play monday night were romo on my team and crayton on my opponent's team. if he would have not sucked so much and thrown one less interception, i would have won. if that pass to TO that was called back would have been declared a reception, i would have won. if romo hadn't lost that fumble, i would have won....but no. now i'm 4-0-1. my perfection is ruined!!!!!!
and i'm most certainly NOT starting romo this weekend with them playing the patriots (who will eat the cowboys alive).

NFC so you have more in AFC that can easily dominated the Cowboys ex. the Colts.

College level is a lot easier to follow around here since we have the Buckeyes to watch. Other than that - the Browns, I really don't know what to say on that one; I've been watching the games lately but it almost seems like a waste half the time (and then real upsetting when they've gotta kick a field goal twice). BTW, anyone know how they did today against New England?
