Sadly, there's no sure-fire way to get over a cold faster. Your best bet is to stay in general good health, which keeps your immune system functioning at peak levels, and you'll get fewer colds and get over them faster. Too much vitamin C is unlikely to hurt, but most people in developed countries get enough from their normal diets anyway, so I wouldn't recommend a supplement. It's just a waste of money, for the most part.
Garlic also seems to have some strange, nearly magickal ability to bolster one's immune system, plus it's delicious. I can't find a flaw in the idea of artificially simulating a fever, but NyQuil and other medications that cover the symptoms are usually more likely to extend the duration of the cold by suppressing your body's natural immune functions. Cough suppressants are probably a horrible idea unless you're having a hard time sleeping because of your cough, but expectorants are probably good. |

High doses of Vitamin C - like 5-10g over the space of a day (1g every hour is my trick) for the first 2 or 3 days. You can't overdose on it; all it'll do is err, make you want to go. But that's never happened to me.
Lots of echinacea, 2 or 3g over a day for the first 2 or 3 days.
Garlic... eat food with lots of fresh, organic garlic in it.
Orange juice (or anything high in Vitamin C) with a pinch of ground ginger in it.
Gargle super-salty water and hold it there for a minute or two.
Then drink a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in water (or on its own if you can handle it) every few hours if your throat hurts.
Do all that and in my experience the cold doesn't stand a chance - my nose might drip for a day but that's the extent of it!! |

Something I do and it never has failed me .
DRINK salt water, instead of gargling it .
I do this at the first sign of a cold .
*WARNING* This method sometimes makes the wind pipe close up for a few seconds , which may make you feel like you are choking . This feeling passes within seconds , but is quite unnerving.
Sometimes I chose getting a cold over using this method for that reason . But if you cant afford to be sick it will work! |

| I drink vitamin C fortified OJ. Lots of room temperature water. A few glasses of water with two tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar(Makes you feel warm all over). Hot Cocoa. And eat soups like chicken noodles, chili, and beef stew with saltine crackers. Also eat food spiced with jalapeņos and cayenne peppers. I'm usually all better in two to three days. |

Gingerrroot shredded into a tea and steeped for 10 minutes then drunk works great for the muccus problems. It's really cheap to get, too!
I'm trying out Wild Oil of Oregano for a cold right now - it seems to be helping everything but the dizzyness/sleepiness.
Chicken soup is supposed to be good - real or artificial, from what scientists have found. After it's done cooking, chop up some garlic and throw it in so it doesn't get cooked. |

| Plenty of food, water, and rest. Everything else either just helps with the symptoms or is snake oil. |

| I used Zicam tablets and my cold went away in 4 days. You have to keep taking them after the symptoms are gone, but they're tasty. I also use Robitussin expectorant to keep my chest cleared. |

You can buy it in herbal shops. |
That stuff works for me. It shortens the symptoms and is good for your immune system. |

When I start feeling symptoms of a upcoming cold I take Airborne. It's effervescent tables filled with vitamins and herbs. I dissolve a tablet in a small cup of water every 3 hours for about a day or two. It does help.
In the past I used Zicam Nose Gel but I did not like the reaction I would get. Sometimes when I used Zicam nose gel the symptoms would either get worse or my sinuses would feel weird. |

For me:
1. No sugar.
2. Extra Sleep, while on Nyquil.
3. Gargle with Scotch Whiskey (or whatever you have that kills germs), and swallow. Do not rinse with water afterwards, because you don't want to dilute/wash away the alcohol.
4. If you have no sodium-related medical problems, eat LOTS of the saltiest thing you can find -- I prefer potato chips, because they lubricate (grease) AND salinate sore throats. Salt kills germs, so the saltier you can make your system, the less germs will survive. Don't go mad, just kick up your sodium pretty good temporarily.
Drinking alcohol's good too, but not too much or it weakens your immune system as well as killing germs. Just a shot or two. |

| Lots of water, and lots of sleep get rid of every cold. Nyquil and Dayquil help the symptoms. |

| I use Zycam spray. It really works well for me. I get over the cold in three days. I used to feel bad and tired for a week when I had a cold. It's also a pain to have to get up constantly to blow your nose. |
