It was mentioned by http://www.ted.com/talks/molly_crockett ... _bunk.html but I had never heard that association before.

The message I get from her talk is that one should be very sceptical about claims that molecule x (or the lack thereof) has a certain effect on a person´s mood. And she´s right about that. Human neurobiology isn´t fully understood yet and insanely complex. On top of that, there are individual differences. While our DNA is remarkably similar throughout the human population (more so than most other animals), there are slight differences that could make person A react in a different way to a lack of serotonin than person B.

My lack of serotonin creates obsessive-compulsive guilt and scrupulosity, not revenge.

Lack of serotonin or excessive serotonin uptake also causes clinical depression.

Depressed people are too inert to be doing revenge.
