Hi, I'm new and quite old at the same time!

Found out about Aspergers only in April last year and that helped me to make sense of me. It did not change the world around me though. I have not been able to get a diagnosis of anything!

I do not think a diagnosis should be necessary to be respected for who and how I am!

I have recently started an online degree in painting.

Hope to find a friendly place to land here occasionally.

You could post your art in the Literature/Art sub-forum.

Is painting one of your Special Interests? Do you have any others?

Wow, thank you for the lovely validating warm welcomes!
:sunny:

Kiprobalhato, I seem to want to pick an argument with everything you say, so please forgive me in advance, but I don't understand your first sentence, it sounds illogical to me; on the other hand, in the world of autism, our present understanding of it and the crazy world we live in... I'm not surprised!
For the painting I have added my blog address to my sig, but am not quite ready to face dealing with Photobucket again. I will in due course, promise
About welcoming me to the club, I thought you need to be qualified to hand out diagnoses to do that, or am I being too literal? Maybe I'm also being confusing. I tried to get a diagnosis from the NHS and while they were happy to concede that my brain thinks like that of an autistic person, I do not have the appearance of one, or the need of their services, so the psychiatrist and clinical psychologist did not give me a diagnosis. They did offer to help me become more normal, more sociable; apparently it does not matter whether I am autistic or not as they would treat me the same. I find that worrying.
Can you explain what you meant?

ImAnAspie, what a lovely Welcome sign, thank you!

Yes I think you can describe painting as my Special Interest. I tend to focus on one thing, though that one thing has varied throughout my life. When I found out about autism, I guess I made that my Special Interest too, like you, I believe :)

Did you take up the idea of doing a degree in Psychology?
