I never used to like the open ended ness of this thread but it seems just right now, maybe ageing has given me new insight. I might do the topic thing again, but work, writing, reading and now travelling (May 2015) are priorities. Nice to visit the old neighbourhood. 8)

There are three things you need to do:

  • Enjoy yourself!
  • Never tell anyone what the third one is

This place was just taking a little nap.

Speaking of naps....they are good, I'm still bad, but we both get along. Opposites attract?

Very nice to see you, figuratively speaking, that is.

Naw, no sliding. Just some sprinkles. I think we got an inch and a half last week, and like a half-inch the last few days. Still working generically for the same org, in a different dept. The kid is at school on Lau's side of the pond. I'm lucky enough to finally only be working one job. Old cat (just about 21) went on a hunger strike when the kid left in Sept and couldn't pull back out, which leaves me with her pet rat to sit by the fire with at night for company. Other than that, life is good. Garden is finally being a garden - given enough soil amendment and fencing, so i'm up to my eyeballs in onions at present. Can't get to it to check this week, tho. So many gopher burrows that when I try to walk across the open I'm in constant danger of breaking an ankle from the collapsing tunnels. How is life up north? Speaking of sliding into the ocean!! !!

Postie is still in pensultuky. Lau is still holding England down, so it does not float away. Looks like all the regulars are starting to drift in.... we need a bonfire.

This is one of those problems that has a technological solution: snow shoes. Or you suspend yourself from a smaller version of this: Image
Or you set up two high masts, about three time as high as the distance between them, and suspend between them a climbing harness attached to bungees that take about three quarters of your weight at ground level. You can hop over your garden, or lightly moonwalk.

I expect there are people here who can propose more imaginative solutions. This is just little boring old me, idling his brain.

That might work.

I was kinda thinking of a NASA jet pack, myself. Remember them from the 1960s? The flying guys?

probably have to do a full-on environmental impact report before i could get the tracks installed.....

buying onions at the market would be cheaper.
