I don't like having to look through up to 7 printable pages to find a topic I want to post in because there is so much space between each line of text on topic lists. I often can't find a topic I want to post in because it's easy to miss and overlook. The old version had the topic list page more condensed in 4 printable pages and was easier to find topics in. Please do something about this and the posting page being similarly scroll excessive.

This should now been improved to some extent. We will also be fixing the posting page.

Noticing a bunch of SQL errors when previewing posts

I really like the thingy that appears on the preview page to tell you there has been at least one new post since you started writing and then shows what I think is the latest new post -- very useful!

Also, I got an SQL error after posting (sorry, I should have copied and pasted the text for specifics but I didn't think of it at until just now).

I agree with most other posters--the new theme is way too bright. I also miss the boxed in effect around the text windows, and in the forum areas. It provides a helpful visual framework. I am going to check out any poster suggestions for dimming the site. I saw that one poster had made an add-on to dim it down, but the add-on is currently only compatible with the Chrome and Firefox browsers. I use Sea Monkey. I will keep looking through the other posts for help with this, though.

Like some of the other posters have suggested, you need to provide a number of alternate themes, including dim ones, so that people can pick their own. Keep the logo and other basic site stuff the same across all the choices, but have different color and brightness values among the different themes.

Long hyperlink broken on editing post

I just posted a reply with a long-ish hyperlink

Quote:
https://userstyles.org/styles/90807/wrongplanet-forum-color-fixes

It's displayed in the post as "https://userstyles.org/styles/90807/wro ... olor-fixes", but the hyperlink still points to the original URL. So far so good. But when I go to edit the post the text contains "https://userstyles.org/styles/90807/wro ... olor-fixes" and when I save the edit the link is broken - the original URL is lost.

Every time I try to use italics, quotes, or the like, it doesn't work. grr. What gives? :?: Also, it is too bright and stark and I can't stay on the site for very long. And it all just seems mushed together, there should be some subtle separations between things again.

When editing posts with links the link shortens to as it's shortened appearance in the post itself
When I was editing a post about a news article it shortens the link from this
http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/fort ... d-27292093
To this, ruining the link

Inserting You Tube and url seems smoother. On embedded Youtube video's when you click the full screen icon it actually goes to full screen.

Now posts are saying "minutes ago" and not the time of post. I miss the old format.

that's a feature I implemented. I feel it is more relevant in terms of showing recent activity.

I like seeing it in terms of "minutes ago".
I hope I can find a way to color the site so as to dim it down. I mainly use my iPad, so am searching for apps. If anyone knows of one (that doesn't involve hacking the iPad) please let me know.
Also, there seems to be a glitch in that I don't see my posts even though it says it's been submitted.

I really think you'll get used to it. If you miss the old format you can always change your preferences though.

Oh, thank you I can see the forum as I am more used to it! Can we have custom rank back too? I want to be a Dragon again.

the "Similar Topics" function could be a good idea...i've noticed really old, dead, irrelevant threads in it though, could invite thread necromancy, which is frowned upon.
perhaps only allowing more recent topics (1 month or 6 weeks since last post)??

I've never understood why people don't like updates to old threads.

I liked the blue and green colors better.I have the brightness as low as it will go on the iPad and it still hurts my eyes.Maybe I will wear sunglasses while viewing.
No errors posting,it operates smoother.
I don't care for my avatar being blown up like a parade float.
