Not really. Republicans were very unenthusiastic about electing him and the nomination contest stretched on considerably. Most Republican opponents were incompetent lunatics, whereas Romney is valueless opportunist.

Who has Mitt the Plastic Mormon bullied in the last 15 to 20 years?

They liked him well enough to get off their keisters and go vote for him. It doesn't matter how well you like someone, a vote is a vote.

I don't understand why they go vote for someone they don't like. I would never vote for someone I didn't like just because I felt the guy had a better chance to beat the other side. Seems like a terrible way to go, voting for someone you don't really agree with. It just perpetrates the s**t sandwich vs douche bag paradigm. I'll always vote for the guy I like. You won't find me eating s**t.

I think in this case it's more a matter of disliking the other guy than of liking Mitt.

That is the bane of a two party system, you always end up voting for the people that are not the people you hate instead of voting for what you think is best.

Who cares what he did in prep school in 1965???
The Young Turds would carry on and cry even if Romney had an un-paid parking ticket from 1965 since he is not their man.

A typical as*hole jock type of prank. Mitt Romney hasn't aged a day.

In my mind a "prank" is something you pull on friends. What Mittens did falls closer to the category of bullying. I'm sure the justification is that the person deserved it for not looking like a prep in a prep school and therefore it was "hilarious" rather than just plain mean.

And like I said, I can't understand why they vote for someone they don't necessarily like, just to take out someone they don't like out of office. Crappy strategy. I could see how presidential candidates could get worse and worse if everyone stuck to that plan.

JUST VOTE FOR THE GUY YOU LIKE, WHETHER YOU THINK THEY'LL WIN OR NOT! JEEZ

Learning this about Mitt makes me think of every bully and/or jock I hated in high school.

Romney's supporters are a bunch of bullies too.

Also, I liked the part where they turned the lights off and moved the wall so the RP delegates couldn't vote.

It's all getting to be cartoonish.

[sigh] I'm not voting for him either, but if this is the type of thread that will keep popping up, I think I'll steer clear of PPR until November.
