I was going to post in N&CE but this is more of a theoretical question.

This is a Canadian case but I think the issue is common in the Americas. That is the growing number of seniors. I think the increase in numbers is due to longevity and the population growth in the last century.

So how do we care for the elderly? I don't have children so I will be reliant on public health care. And a lot of children simply do not have the time or ability to care for parents who are living with sometimes serious and care demanding illnesses. I'd sooner shoot myself in the head than end up in a public senior's home. But, maybe they will improve by the time I get there, but I somehow doubt it.
