that is not "rationalizing" but common sense. when thug cops start rousting you then you may think differently.

that's the problem, I have been repeatedly harassed just for walking around my own neighborhood, my yahoo neighbors don't like me and they bear false witness against me accusing me of casing their places for burglary and such. and the cops generally don't believe my side of the story. one cannot be subject to this crap for years and maintain a positive view of the police. or of conservatives in general [I live in tea party central].

Interestingly, they've got "oathkeepers" "defending" the businesses in Ferguson tonight.

Which is good, as the police just don't have the numbers.

Why? Citizens have the law to follow. Vigilantes are the ones vandalizing the businesses in the name of false justice (as per the Grand Jury).

It's the fault of the people that vandalize buildings, not the people that defend them.

(It's like Bizarro World, where the bad people are entirely neglected, and the good people are seen as bad, even though they haven't done anything. :?)

I have no faith that the "oathkeepers" will confine themselves to "guarding buildings." you are more of an optimist than I am. I see nothing to be optimistic about in this world. it is all going downhill.

Not quite. Oathkeepers is a group of active-duty and veteran service members and law-enforcement officers (as well as anyone who has ever taken an oath of office) who promise to never obey an unconstitutional command or order. The founder once gave me a free membership when he first started the group (my oath was as a county-government worker), but I couldn't afford to maintain it. Nonetheless, I admire those members who are willing to uphold their oaths by continuing to help out in times like this.

I have no faith in humanity or human nature. but I can understand the inchoate impotent rage of the demonstrators. that I can feel.
