it might just be a horrible movie, an exemplar of the best alan smithee tradition. only they're doing it under their real names. I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time.

I just saw on Fareed Zacariah how the British government under Neville Chamberlain had banned Charley Chaplain's The Great Dictator, fearing that it would offend Hitler. It only got released in Britain when the Second World War was well under way. Not exactly the same thing as with North Korea and The Interview, but it goes to show you how appeasement gets you nowhere.

On an unrelated point - I've never seen that eating-drumstick emoticon before! I couldn't find it in the choices offered by WP.

I don't agree with the consensus that hacking isn't a form of war.

It's a direct action that has economic and security hindering effects.

Maybe a documentary would be better than making a comedy. What's your opinion?

Its a lengthy article, and filled with jargon, but worth reading.
The writer lays out his reasons why North Korea probably DID NOT hack Sony.

if NK did NOT do it, then why can't they find who actually DID it?

Perhaps it really was just a disgruntled employee getting some payback. But consider the possibility that it was both - that North Korea had hired said fired or soon-to-be-fired employee to hack Sony for them.
