Lower GDP usually equals less greenhouse gas emissions and polution.

Also, this crisis has allowed Obama to take measures he normally would not have been allowed to take, such as spending billions in green research, science and technology. Who knows, maybe in 5-10 years the US will become the leader in new technology and innovations, and become self-sufficient and not need to rely on middle east oil anymore.

Gasoline is somewhat cheaper. The price of homes has gone down considerably.

They say that the younger generation will actually benefit from it. Houses are much cheaper now, and by the time the young people retire, the recession will be long gone, so really the only major way it's affecting younger people is that they are able to afford nicer areas than they'd normally be able to.

I was going to say this. With the vested interests weakened, we can make progress on the upcoming energy crisis.

I've noticed that lately It's a lot easier to get a table at my favorite restaurants... where i used to wait an hour or more for a table, i'm getting seated immediately... the price of beef is way down as well, especially for the best cuts...

yesterday I got some t-bones for $6 a pound, down from 11 or 12 a month ago...

I don’t hear anything on the news from the idiots who wanted people to invest their social security taxes in the stock market.

Fewer people driving - many can't afford to keep one going, and fewer people with jobs to drive to. Therefore fewer motor accidents...

I am hoping this crisis gets so bad that our leaders will decide there must be a better way.

Maybe then we can stop living in an economy and get back to living in a community.

Bring on the Bell Riots.

i have seen ads put together by superfunds saying

after a slowdown markets improve and the market will improve. Soon superannuation will be seen as the good long term investment it is.
