I'm in exactly the same place I was in 1999. Nothing has changed. I still get up, commute, I just work longer hours now in a different kind of job. Still lonely, still no one loves me. I can't see things being any different in another 18 years time.

I feel so old, but too young. I've got at least another 40 years to go. I don't feel like I can face it.

This is a cliché, of course. A rather hackneyed one.

But it's true....100% true:

"You never know what the future will hold."

When I was in my 20's, I had a very different vision of what life would be like when I'm in my 50's than what actually happened.

Sometimes, you get lucky. I've had some unexpected good things happen for me.

I went through a rough patch a few years back, it was one thing after another, in between each event I sort of recovered and thought that things couldn't get worse. They did get worse.

It taught me that it/life can always become more difficult and that I always have something to lose.

Some people think I'm a pessimist for believing that, but I think it makes more of a realist.

Yes, you have "something to lose."

But you also have "something to gain" by risking the possibility of that "something to lose."

Moreover, I've seen many cases of "two steps forward, one step back" leading to much success--despite the setbacks.

Don't worry. Like they say, you never know what the future holds. I've changed a lot in the last 10 years and chances are, I will in the next 10. Heck, life has changed heaps in this year alone! Don't worry, things will change: change is inevitable.

I'm still alone. I will always be alone. It won't change. No man will ever want me. I'm not ever going to be good enough for anyone.

This is very true, I think to notice these gains and to build the confidence to take risks, I had to stop and fully appreciate what I still had.

I'm open to being wrong, I don't know if my outlook is relevant to Hurtloam though

I can totally relate. Since I have been out of highschool (which was also around 1999) Same situation
No Friends, no Love intrest.

If I had any advice I sure don't. Other than just hang in there, :|
