Can you pick out a song to listen to in your head while waiting somewhere, like for an appointment or something?

Yes. I can replay it beat for beat like I was hearing it from the speakers.

Yeah, but more so when I was younger and listened to music (outside of my head) more frequently than I do now. In college (20 years ago) I'd play back piano concertos and symphonies in my head while I waited for lectures to start. Now, the music is sort of muddy and indefinite unless I've listened to a recording recently.

Yeah, I said this before: in my teenage years, I often had to wait for the transportation service that took me from my school back to my home village, and that could take 45-90 minutes. Without any books or drawing utensils, all I could do was wait wait wait... so I'd play all my favourite songs that I knew the lyrics off by heart in a row. To this day, I summon the songs in my head when I have to wait on something, or when I'm walking toward some destination.

I actually find myself to be a bit different. Even with perfect pitch, I often find myself unable remember anything about a song unless I hear that first note. Keep in mind I have this song memorized and have played it 300 times before. Once I hear that note I remember the rest of it.

I used to listen to entire albums during algebra class in high school. Wish I could do that now but my job involves close listening.

Yep, though my head can compose its own music only when going to sleep.

Yes,but this can be annoying when you get a song stuck that you don't like.

Yes, but the music tends to be fuzzy or get stuck in a loop if I haven't heard the song for a long time. If I'm making something up, it's just fine until my composition becomes too similar to a known melody.

Yes. It's too bad i can't turn it off at times, the music in my head is playing 80% of the time when i'm awake, even when doing something.

I've been rocking The Jam and The Clash in my head this week.
