Oh I just ate too c'mon!! !! ! I hope you do this in private because a lady I worked with expectorated at the office very loudly and it damaged work relations.

I cant stand the feeling of some boogies in my nose, but I employ the tissue over the finger technique. I always want to pick while I'm driving too. I am an OCD hand washer so the whole picking thing is not in keeping with my clean hand obsession.

I pick my nose all the time, when I'm alone in my apartment. I don't pick my nose around other people, though.

I used to get catalogs from a company that sold gadgets and such for law enforcement and private investigators and survivalist types. One of the things they sold I thought was bizarre and yet fascinating were tiny vials of clear liquid containing chemicals that if dripped or wiped, even in minute amounts on any surface or fabric, would leave the stench of feces, or industrial waste or decomposing bodies or whatever - you paid yer money and ya took yer choice. Seems just a trace of one of those on your booger-finger would solve your problem in no time at all. Either that or some spice that would give you a painful but harmless chemical burn. I believe its called 'Aversion Therapy', but its supposed to be pretty effective for bad habits.

I'll add that I use my fingers to scratch the inside of my nose, too. It really sucks in public (especially at work, or at school) when my noses itches so badly I want to put my finger in it. I would do it if other people didn't think it's so gross.

I have a question for this thread: Have you ever picked your nose 'til it bled?

Where did you hear this? I made up this theory on my own, I thought. Speaking of immune systems, I hope pumibel's is managing with obsessive hand-washing (it is something I think all OCD hand washers + antibacterial users must face).

Oh I used to do this very often.
Tissues will not work, I have tried them and they hurt my nose a lot.
It feels like it is going to bleed when I use tissues.
I did pick my nose until it bled several times, and continued after the bleeding stopped.
The blood bits are the best.

Sometimes blowing my nose hurts so thats why I blow my nose back than out. I also don't like Kleenexes all that much but maybe it's the type of them I am using and I need to use softer kinds.

Sometimes, eat it, when I'm hungry. I take that as a sign that I haven't been eating enough, and than cook myself a decent meal, so I don't have to catch myself doing that again, for a while.

I unfortunately have this annoying habbit of picking my nose which I do have to admit...

Back when I used to be little, I would just pick my nose and eat the boogies... I thought it was pretty interesting at first until at couple of times it led me to having nose bleeds. :(

If anyone seriously wants to eat boogies while having a nose bleed, it is definitely not a good idea.

I wonder if this happens to everyone else?

That is mine too. I hate blowing my nose. It gives me a sore head and doesn't work anyway.

I pick my nose too, mostly in the morning after I've just woken up. I also eat the snots.

To me it is simply nose cleaning. 8)

A few years ago I walked in on my daughter feeding her boogers to one of my cats, I still shudder at the thought, but she (the cat) seemed to like it. I guess it solves a couple of problems at once.

Exactly! I don't think a lot of people understand that.

I noticed if I get scabs inside my nose they feel like huge boogers, so there is a vicious cycle if picking and scratching. It has to be bad for you in that case because now the germs that the boogers trap can get into the bloodstream. when I have allergy issues and the medicines make my nose dry I apply Vaseline inside my nostrils with a cotton swab. That helps a lot- so does saline spray.

I believe the obsession with picking and eating nose goblins is called "Pica". It is not the screen resolution or layout measurement, it is a form of OCD. That doesnt mena everyone who does it has OCD, though.

A description of Pica

Pica Information

Pica again because I like the number 3

I cannot swallow snot lest I forcefully vomit,
I don't care if someone else does it, its not me.
I hock loogies quite loudly if it is just
brother and me at home, and pick my
nose and flick it out the window.

If in public I muffle the sound with
a tissue or disguise it as a cough or
sneeze when I'm actually hocking,
no one notices it. I try to hide
booger/bogey picking as well,
I have a big book in front of me
and pick behind the book.

I liked going to the retirement
home where grandma and grandpa
lived before they passed, I could
fart and hock without anyone
caring in the least, they all did
it too so they didn't give a dang,
but I still hid the picking.

I had to confess to my psychiatrist about chalk eating which I always found rather shameful because a close friend told me that it was good for the Dr to know the meds I'm on makes it so I don't have that compulsion anymore.

I also pick my nose privately. I've heard its related to anxiety.
