Subject says all. Any thoughts?

Not an uncommon thing to see. I think it all depends on how its explained.

I find it easier to explain it as it as the brain wiring itself differently in the womb. Just like some people are left handed and others right handed the same happens in the brain when it comes to processing information.

It may not be scientifically accurate but its easier for the ignorant to digest.

If they keep insisting its a disease feel free to bite them. With any luck it will be infectious ;)

If sarcasm or biting wit is appropriate, say something like "The disease is ignorance and you're incurable"

Well, for all practical effects, disorders and disabilities can be considered "diseases".

No. A disease is something caused by a bacteria (or virus) that is infectious. AS is a syndrome or a disorder, not a disease. Saying that it's a disease is not only incorrect, but it's really ignorant on their part.

Atypical development, not damage.
