Aww come on, fans of Nintendo can't be that bad by default. :P

I've been posting on message boards since I was around maybe 10? That's a decade right there. Started on some Gameshark one I believe. I was a bit immature, conceited, stubborn, and as a result I'd kept getting banned, making few friends if any at all. I didn't understand how they worked or what kind of behavior would be tolerated, nor the extent of which the rules went.

I'm not saying any of this applies to you; just that it seems like a similar way I'd felt before. Of course, you have all these people here telling you they like you well enough and that they'd like for you to stick around. You're certainly not as bad as I was, so that's also good. Although I've learned a lot from being a bit more reserved and paying attention to how others form their posts, I still sometimes feel that I could do better, even if I don't get in much trouble anymore. It's true, too - there is always room for improvement, as nobody is perfect. Just, don't let that feeling get to you. I'm sure a lot of people here have already accepted you as you are.

im just confused realy :(

Not everyone has AS. I, for one, have a diagnosis of PDD-NOS. Even more disregarded / unacknowledged than Classic Autism. It bugs me, but... You know, this Autism vs. Asperger's vs. PDD-NOS vs. whatever is indeed tiresome after a while. Diagnostic boundaries are imperfect and vary from diagnostician to diagnostician in practice. That's all. All of us have a form of ASD.

I made this thread a long time ago. The overwhelming majority of people on the site probably feel just like you do. Maybe it might help to know.

Yes, I think you're right. Most of us feel similarly, probably due to low self-esteem.

Yes, it appears so, not just for you, but the majority. Besides, those who are very slow at reading up threads (who do it at all) and composing replies are naturally at disadvantage. I'm slow, too.

You definitely belong here. The majority of WP members are diagnosed with HFA or AS, but this forum is designed for anyone on the Autism spectrum, which is where you fit. NTs are also welcome here. This forum really is for anyone but it is centered around Autism. WP needs more lower functioning members who contribute to the forums in order for the who community on WP to understand the entire spectrum, not just AS. I personally would love to see you contribute here so I can understand lower functioning Autism better. Seeing most posts on the forum through an Aspie point of view makes it seem one sided sometimes. More lower functioning Autistic and NT participants in the forums would give the site greater diversity.

I love the Zelda games. Only games I ever really cared about playing. I haven't played in awhile though. I don't have a WII, but I have a Gamecube, and original NES and 3 different types of Gameboys.

WP is like a big old dysfunctional family. We fight, we love, we fight, we love, it's how life goes. There will always be popular people and not so popular people. Can't get away from it.

I'm AS, but I've been around people lower on the spectrum too. In fact before I got my diagnosis, I was an aide for a girl with classic autism who was pretty severely affected. My being on the spectrum I think some how made me more connected to her without realizing it. I don't always feel like I belong here or that people care or are listening, but I don't have anywhere else to connect with people like me, so I stay.

I don't always know how to respond to posts so I don't say anything in those cases.

Stick around, maybe you'll learn something, maybe you'll teach us something. The most important thing to do is keep an open mind about what is said.

Actually, I'm fascinated to read anything from anyone who is further UP?? Down?? the Spectrum than just myself. No dx, YET but likely either to be HFA (which I always have thought) or Asperger's. Maybe some feel Asperger's is more the "In" term, which explains the angst over the DMV V LOL.
Stay here & write if you can.
Please..

Matthew

Nintendofan
I'm not even diagnosed with anything and debatable whether I'd get a diagnosis of AS or ADHD or SPD or nothing at all. I can relate to your posts, especially the ones describing sensory issues. Please stick around, you really are welcome here.

You shouldn't leave just because of one or two thoughtless people. Most of us want you to stay. I'm also a Nintendo fan. I don't play video games so much anymore, but I make half of my WP posts on my Wii. I think that you're a great person. :)

That's usually how I conclude a thread. I just have no idea how else to get replies.

I like Nintendofan. I hope he/she sticks around. I feel different from people here too and sometimes I feel so 'not bothered' that I don't read the forum for very long.

I don't get many responses to my posts either and I often wonder why that is and whether I am doing something to upset people. It does make me feel a bit down sometimes but I relate so much to what a lot of people on here say and enjoy reading their posts and learn a lot so I keep coming back and do still persist with posting (even though I feel a bit nervous about it) in the hope people will be more responsive if they get to know me better. So I do understand (at least in part) how you feel and I hope you will feel more accepted as time goes on.

I have often thought it would be nice to hear more from people with more severe forms of autism as they are very under-represented on these boards. Also, I do voluntary work with adults with autism (most of them also have other disabilities like Downs or severe learning difficulties). I love working with them and am getting to know them and we can communicate but as they have very limited verbal abilities and cannot read or write I feel that I can't understand them as well as I would like to (although they usually undertand me pretty well). It would be great to get some better insight and perspective on what it feels like to be very severely affected as there may be ways I can improve our relationships or offer better support.

I don't think you speak another language. Your posts are readable. True, many members have AS. But we're nonetheless autistic and need understanding too. I don't know what to say to make you feel more welcome. I'm not good at knowing how to show feelings... sorry.

I get replies for many reasons. Sometimes someone wants to leave a sarcastic remark or correct some error in my post. Someone might be looking for a fight but I'm the most rationale arguer in the world except at certain periods of the month and if my meds wear off or if I'm not on them. Someone might know me fairly well as I've been posting here for a couple of years.
I find quoting when you reply to people it gets a conversation going.

I still get nervous about some of the posts I've made and might avoid those threads for a little while, or permanently. Most times I just post and if people have a problem with it I ignore them.

This is the first time I've ever heard of you. 8O Don't go! I enjoy reading about people from all ends of the spectrum. We NEED the diversity here. Sometimes I don't feel like I fit in here either, and I have AS. Just keep posting and maybe you'll make some new friends. :P

WOW!! ! I have a NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, two Gameboy Pockets, a Gameboy Advance and a DS lite. I too love the ledgend of Zelda. I often go on Zelda when I feel overwhelmed by real life! I am hoping to get a Wii in the future but I am waiting until it is cheaper.

my nintendo consoles are -

2 x nes = 1 boxed
2 x snes both boxed
4 x n64 = 1 boxed blue
3 x original gameboy = 2 boxed
1 x gameboy pocket
4 x gameboy colour = 3 pokemon editon, 1 green
4 x gameboy advance
2 x gameboy advance sp = only 1 charges
4 x gamecube = all boxed
1 x wii = boxed black
1 x ds lite = black
1 x 3ds = boxed metalic red.
i have lots of nintendo toys, promo displays, magazines, clothes, etc... to

you should get a wii , the zelda games are realy fun on it :)

Why have you doubled up so regularly. 4 boxed gamecubes? That mean you've never even played it before?
