Simple they give examples of famous people that have Aspergers.

Bill Gates
Albert Einstein

The list goes on but I will not.

There is no evidence that any of these people have or had it.

Bill Gates puts on a public front but he is a greedy power hungry person who likes the sound of his on voice.

The rags to riches story of Bill Gates is a badly written myth.

This forum gives the clearest picture of what Aspergers is all about we do not need silly examples with no evidence.

Good point, but you do know that the only reason Einstein wasn't diagnosed was the fact that Asperger's wasn't a well understood diagnosable condition. There is some proof that Einstein was autistic, but you're correct about Bill Gates.

I completely agree with you, but you've missed the point.

Bill Gates *could* be autistic and successful.
Therefore *you* can be autistic and successful.

Jason.

I see Gates as more of a psychopath than autistic.

There is evidence that they have it. Not that it really matters because a lot of the examples the person is dead so it is impossible to know for sure, or it is someone famous who is not diagnosed (not saying they should be diagnosed).

This is false. The fact that Bill Gates is successful combined with the supposition that Gates might be autistic does not lead one to the conclusion that anyone who is autistic can be successful. Most NTs will never experience the degree of success that Bill Gates had. How are people who are socially impaired and thus dealing with the consequences of such impairments likely to be able to do so?

I am not saying that no one who is autistic can be successful (whatever successful means - as was pointed out in another thread, the concept is vague and poorly defined), but this example is actually kind of manipulative.

Yep. You could be an NT or Aspie and be successful.

Would you rather an assumption of stupidity than success? I'll take the "more awareness is better," but... I don't mind being compared as having traits of abnormally successful people like Bill Gates. If he was a blue tadpole, I would still like to be compared to his success.

Another person misrepresenting the autism community in particular: Chris Chan. Potentially the most wretched, vile flesh-and-blood contrivance to ever walk this earth. :eew:
