Did your parents have you at a later age than is considered typical?

Both of my parents were in their early-mid 40s when I was born.

I once read somewhere that the older the man is who impregnates a woman (of any reproductive age), the more likely it is that their child will be born autistic. This was found to be true within the age range of 45-60 for men. It was an article from Science Daily I think.

I'm not sure if that's entirely true, because my Dad was only 18 when he got my Mum (Who was 21) pregnant with me and I still have a disorder.

I'm not saying it IS true (the older the father, the higher the chance of autism), but IF it is, that doesn't mean there can't be younger men also fathering autistic kids. It seems to be hereditary too, so it'd be possible at any age.

I think the idea isn't that you have to have an older father to produce an autistic child, but rather that the older the father is, the higher the chance the child will be autistic.

You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits

What would these results mean? Been told here I must be a "half pint".

I was the youngest of four children. my mom said she didn't want any after me, mostly because I was such a pain. I was a month late "just like everything else in my life". and 9 pounds 12 ounces. father was in his thirties... still think it's hereditary.

That's possible. But it also might be a correlation vs causality thing again.
My dad was 28 and mom was 27.

Mom was 35 and dad was 37 when they had me. My parents are now in their 60s. I have an acquaintance who's dad just celebrated their 40th bday and this acquaintance is only a year younger than me. Kinda makes me jealous because she'll have her parents around longer than I will. Actually, that just makes me sad to think about.

I think my mom was in her late 20s/early 30s, and my dad would have been about....fifty-ish. Yes, there was an age discrepancy between my parents when they married.

I have not seen any studies connecting parental age with ASD. Increased mother's age is associated with Down's Syndrome (trisomy 21). My parennts were 29 when I was born.

my parents were both in their mid 20s when they decided to have me, my mom was even younger when she had my sister, she was 19.

I never knew my mother but I believe she was in her mid 20's when she had me. My father travelled with the circus and he would have been in his 30's.

I would love to be an older parent. I was also a teenage parent. I think there are pro's and con's at both ends of the age range.
