For me it has made my life very hard and boring. I had school problems -couldnt concentrate - the whole thing was too much for me

i couldnt relate to anyone - i would be all nice and friendly - but still - no one liked me

loud noises - make me jump easily and get scared (because i jump) like the washing up plates and the toaster - i hate that thing:/

so..what about you

I am self-diagnosed, and have been for a year now, but that doesn't change the fact that the problems that come with AS have affected me my whole life.

I'm not saying I don't like having it, I am very proud of who I am. The things like a logical mind and fixation on one hobby, and an innocent mind are what makes me me. I just don't like not knowing people's intentions or actions, and therefore getting into fights and embarrassing circumstances.

It's affected me in the fact that I am the jumpiest person I know, and I seem very agitated at school, where I follow my one friend almost clingingly, as I always get lost, I jump at loud noises, and bump into people a lot, and I'm scared I'll have meltdown in front of everyone.
I deal with them by tagging along with my friend (it annoys her sometimes, but hey), avoiding crowds, and not speaking to people. It sounds so antisocial, but I don't mind. I have no desire for many friends or excitement.

It's good to know on wrongplanet there are other out there, and I'm not alone.

All the best to all on here xx

It's made me a very gentle and sensitive person. I wouldn't dare hurt anybody, because I know how it feels to be hurt by people.

Question is impossible to answer. Without AS, there is no me. There has never been a me without AS to compare to.

I live a very lonely existence all rooted originally in my AS.
It's a snowballing effect as I get older.

In all honesty, it's been harder for others than it has for me. I have always been content in my own way, it's just that others see it differently than I.
