My ex was very hard to listen to. I had to translate the words she used - "gooseneck" meant "crowbar," etc. She seldom made sense, but would attack if asked for clarification. Even someone she still liked was overheard pleading "Will you PLEASE finish a sentence?" after a paragraph's worth of words.
Good speech is not easy. Many teenagers are only confident with brief, trendy quotations. As with writing, you have to stay on topic in a logical sequence, and save the footnotes for another time. However, you can use intonation and feedback to add information and improve comprehension. However, people will often pretend to understand even if they don't, due to time constraints. If you are getting complaints, it would probably be a good idea to re-train yourself, starting with single sentence contributions, to keep it simple.
