tardgasm has been described as "inappropriate behavior or an exaggerated, inappropriate burst of joy. " Frankly, to me, it seems to come across as a stupid word for reveling in something insanely stupid.

Mabe not everyone here is as mature as you, but at least some people have tried in some way to be helpful to the OP. Thanks for just patting yourself on the back instead.

Better late than never.

Try and figure out what it means to be NT and start working at.

I know how you feel. I love my concentration and fascination with all sorts of different things. I absolutely hate seeing all sorts of "different" people and realizing that they're all the same. I just recently stopped talking to my best friend, and someone I had really come to love, because they criticized my personality in a way that made me understand how little they actually knew of me. Now I think all the times he was acting "dull" wasn't just joking around, and I think he actually has some deep seated prejudice against me because of my "intelligence"...

To everyone saying this is an age problem: I've felt like this since I was in preschool. It feels even worse now, like (for the NT's) looking around you and seeing that everyone is successful, has a car, a wife, a nice house, and all that other BS. Well, I look around and see how much of the world everyone is able to ignore. It feels worse because I'm at the age (18) where I'm being forced into the world, and it's not so much a bad thin that I'll be independent soon, it's not that at all. It's that I'm coming in contact with more people and expanding my "horizons", just to find out that it's the same all around.

To OP: I'm sorry if this is depressing. I live in a different city than you, have a different home life, different exposure, everything. Our situations aren't and can't ever be the same, so hopefully (and most likely) you'll have better luck than I. You are quite young, so use what time and energy you want to find whatever makes you happy.

I was nearly the same way when I was your age. I had nearly no friends. No social skills. I didn't have a girlfriend. Nobody understood me or my personality (actually, how can I know for sure, given that I'm not a mind-reader?). And most people at my school didn't seem to like me. But I never had problems with my schoolwork.

Fast forward 10 years. I have nearly no friends. No social skills. I haven't had a girlfriend. Almost nobody understands me or my personality (nowadays there is more awareness of autism and autistic-like behaviors). Most people at work don't seem to like me, but at least they don't seem to dislike me, either. And I can't always keep up with my work.

There you have it.

Well said. I think some people are missing a vital point; the severity of each person's condition differs. Just because one person has an easy time of it does not mean everyone else does. But I suppose not being able to think outside one's own situation is a characteristic of Asperger's.

Is that comment directed at Mw99? Cos in that case I 100% agree with you. It's become a competition for "Who is the Most Autistic" with some people I'm afraid. In high school you needed the best clothes, funkiest hair, and coolest friends. Here you need the least empathy, the least need to socialise, the least caring what others think.

Got a spare sheet from that sketch pad? Let's shoot spit bombs at the I'm-more-autistic-than-you in-crowd!! !

Also, if you were at my school, they don't seem to like people me :(

you're sixteen. Even NTs have those problems at that age. Give it time. You'll be fine. :)

They do, but most 16-year-old NTs I've seen can manage to have at least a few friends, and they don't seem totally confused when it comes to social situations. I remember being 16 and going through similar troubles- if everyone else was struggling as much as I was, they were doing a damn good job of hiding it.

Actually NT's do struggle htey jsut hide it through a socoiological term called face work, and good acting :) It is harder for us to do that.

roydgerdodger, if it makes you feel any better, I'm not real thrilled to be on the spectrum.

BS. Most of us are socially ankward because of our poor social skills. Besides, there are also NTs with normal social skills who prefers to be alone.

Nope. A lot of people with Asperger's have problems with organizing their school work.

True aspies wouldn't care about not having a girlfriend.

Again: BS. Most people with Asperger's want to be loved (and to love someone) as much as the NTs do. Besides, getting one-night stands is hard, so it's nice to have someone to f**k.
