I can't make my mind up. It sounds either very Aspie or very un-Aspie.
People are always surprised when they see me listening to music and reading, but maybe it's just a coincidence.
I've always been able to do this. Sometimes when I'm reading something very complex I need to pause the minute for a few seconds, or thinking about something complex, but that's it.
It doesn't feel right when I'm reading on the computer and there's no music playing :P.
So, yeah, just wondering who else can, or can't.

Yes, but only if it's music I know really well, it's sung in a different language than english, or has no lyrics. Otherwise my mind is too distracted and I can't concentrate on what I'm reading.

I can read most things, but I cannot read poetry whilst listening to music.

I used to read books with Movie theme music on - just to enhance the story.

I voted no.

For me it's very variated... Sometimes I can't, and at other times I can talk to a person while writing about another thing...

I voted "no", but it really depends. I can read while the TV is on, but if I were to wear headphones and listen to music I could not concentrate well. But if music were playing elsewhere in the house I probably can read fairly well. My preference however is to have no noise while I read.

Yes, but it is much harder to concentrate (and therefore is much slower) than when it is quiet. The later in the evening it gets, the more difficult it is to read with even small distractions.

Depends what kind of music, and what I am reading. To read on WP, I like to listen to electronica. If there are vocals, it's distracting.

Only if the music is instrumental or sung in a language other then English. Otherwise I get too distracted.

I'm reading right now and listening to music. So I'd have to say "Yes".

Sure I do it all the time, wear my ipod and read a book, I think if some people here on WP would listen to some Beethoven or Mozart some of their posts would be a little less angry, that includes me.

I have to have music on when I read or I get distracted by every little noise. I usually listen to classical music or J-rock so I don't get distracted by lyrics.

Yes, well now the TV is on and before I had my music blaring. But if I wanted to get into a story book like LOTR I would prefer the quiet. I can't read when people are talking or if there are outside noises.
