Sneezing at the sun? That's silly...

I do this too. I thought it was hay fever but my tablets don't make it any better. I did notice it more after when it was spring.
I'm going to look this up. :)

Migraines may be from light sensitivity or photophobia. If i didn't wear glasses my eyes would be a stinging, watery mess. Not to mention getting constant headaches.

I don't think it is related to synaesthesia. That's experiencing a sense from another sense, although those people that have that usually have really sensitive senses anyway. I have mild synaethesia.

I found an article for people - http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=loo ... r-a-sneeze

I've sneezed at bright light for as long as I can remember. Examples include reflective pavements too.

I once told a friend I was with as we were getting out of a car, after I sneezed, "The sun makes me sneeze, I don't know why." - I thought she might think I was being kind of crazy, and she replied, "Oh, I know somebody else like that!"

Interesting to actually see there are a lot more out there like this.

This happens to me - I didn't realize this had anything to do with autism though.

I'm not confident that this directly relates with autism. From what I understand, they don't fully understand the cause of it. It's very well possible that it has a higher chance to affect autistic individuals, but since we don't know a whole lot about it, you can't say that it does.

It doesn't necessarily. I was curious if there was a correlation, as I said in my original post.
Pure speculation.
Read this link about Photic Sneeze Reflex: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photic_sneeze_reflex
Science does not yet fully understand what causes it, but the current theory is...

"... a congenital malfunction in nerve signals in the trigeminal nerve nuclei. The fifth cranial nerve, called the trigeminal nerve, is apparently responsible for sneezes. Research suggests that some people have an association between this nerve and the nerve that transmits visual impulses to the brain. Overstimulation of the optic nerve triggers the trigeminal nerve, and this causes the photic sneeze reflex."

In other words... wires are crossed in the brain. :shaking2:

I used to think it was the HEAT I was sneezing at, to the sun.

Interesting.

Yep, I'm also a sun-sneezer. But I tend to like it.... I mean, a good sneeze.
