a friend was talking about felling "hunger pains" and it occurred to me to wonder if I feel them the same as other people.

I know that many with AS probably develop eating disorders due to the depression and loneliness that goes along with the social problems.

But I'm curious how you think of hunger pains. For me: Just a sensation of being empty, I'm acutely aware of time passage, and the enjoyment/sensation of eating is attraction to do it. I tend to counter regular schedules, but I've also established my own at times when I'm focused on it (trying to not eat late at night, which tended to be a bad habit of mine, mostly stem from being lazy).

Thank you for sharing.

I was dxed with eating disorders before I was properly dxed.

I found going off gluten and dairy to really help a lot.

A lot of us do have eating issues. It can be very difficult to separate from the AUT. I think it is tied in. I know mine was, but I guess it might be different for everyone.

Have tried to go gluten and dairy free?

I had eating disorders in my teens. I tend to get anxious when hungry, and cannot be comfortable with strong hunger pangs. I am currently fasting for a medical procedure, and it is sheer torture not being able to eat!

I think Aspies try 'diets' etc out of pure curiosity etc at first...
but then obsession kicks in and it goes too far, thus an eating disorder...
Other way is also true, not being able to stop eating..

I am a bit of an oddball when it comes to eating as well..
I have to have the same foods each day for my meals..

AS people have feelings.

For me, loneliness was a big empty feeling. Eating made that emptiness go away for a little while, so I was prone to overeat a lot.

I have eating disorders. I'm used to pick in the fridge when I'm anxious, or when I'm bored. However, it got better those days.
