Please check your quote tags when you use them so it doesn't look like I said something I didn't. Not that there's anything specific there to worry about, but I don't want credit as a matter of principle.

I used to frequent the VCL.

After a few years the novelty wore off. I still think it interesting, and I think I understand why people are furries (I spent a year figuring it out for myself), I am not a furry.

It's not so much about the suit. It's the identity associated with the RP-character that IS the suit (if that makes sense) (i think).

And yes, I have a natural disposition towards cats; they were the first to not be bothered by me being odd 8)

Myself? I happen to be naturally furry. Blame it on my Scottish genetics.

As far as others....well...the only time I see furries around here is at EDM nights. Mostly females, but I do see a few males sporting furriness.

Actually, a lot of the female fursuits are worn by males.

Someone's behind the times *LAUGHS* Last con I was at there were a lot more girls than in past years and a lot of them were doing the suiting or drawing art. And quite well, at that.

Seriously, you're not active in the fandom, so don't speak for the fandom.

*Ahem* Anyway. Furry isn't about the suiting. The suiting is just the most visible part of the fandom. And media being media will approach the most sellable part of it. The sex. And while I've heard of it going on at cons, I have not taken part in it, and have heard more of the details about it than you. Suiters participating in such acts often have a show suit that is for out on the con floor, and a used suit that is more for the fringe act of suit-sex. Aside from that, I don't really know what the draw to it is. I've been in suit twice and both times, it was very cumbersome and hot. Definitely not sexual feeling.

I will say, though, that I can see the artistic draw in fursuiting in general. I think that it could be very fun to perform on stage or to just have a very beautiful and well crafted suit to show off. I plan on getting a Fox McCloud fursuit with Adventures clothes at some point in the future. There are a lot of really amazing looking suits out there. There's this one wolf suit that's like, I forget, but 12-16 feet tall. A wolf robot. Saw it once at AnthroCon and was very surprised. Some people prefer dancing, some people prefer acting, and some people just like to show it off. There's even a suiter who does really good magic tricks while in suit. All about the sex? Pffft, that's the media's take on thing. I would expect folks here to know that what the media portrays is never the full truth.

On the subject of art and sex, yiff art is no more prevelant overall than hentai and porn videos. The difference? It's not kept shoved in a dark corner where you have to dig to find it. On the primary furry art gallery site, FurAffinity, it's as simple as clicking a button to show it. Noone denies that it exists. But not everyone has an interest in it, and everyone's interests vary severely. Furry is a meta-fandom. There's sci-fi, fantasy, nuclear-warfare, high-school drama, etc, etc type subgroups you could look at within it. Take anything real life, you can turn it into furry stuff. A good writer can do that, without making it feel like the furry part is just tacked on. They can make it feel natural.

I run a furry art site myself. It has a large amount of adult art on it. Does that make me a crazed sex hound? Not at all. I host it cuz it's good art. Do I look at yiff and partake in it? Yes. I do. But everyone else looks at pornography of their own particular interests.

I dunno, really. I have been to a large number of conventions. What goes on may be very weird overall. It may have a more sexual overtone on average than other places due to the openness. But really, I have a LOT of fun there in a non-sexual way. It's relaxing. Everyone's trustworthy. And people are just out to be themselves. It's surreal, in a way. I just wish everyone would quit seeing only the sexual side. It's no more sexual than just about anything else out there. The main difference being it's not hidden. That the mainstream doesn't override the darker side of things.

Meh, enough rambling. *posts*

I make cat noises everyday but don't wear costumes. Does this make me furry inside?

Well, I´m not a furry. But I know that my lover (don´t really know what I should call him) is a furry. I don´t really know much about it more than that he is a furry and what it means.

I don´t know what I think about it...I see myself as a open-minded person and it doesn´t bug me, but I realize that I´m never gonna understand it fully.

I always thought "furries" were a sex thing. Am I wrong?

Well, I really don´t know much about furry and furries, but what I know; no, not necessarily. I had to read a little to understand it at all..I suggest that you read this article about it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furry_fandom

I hope that will clarify the issue a bit :)

Are "neko's" considered to be furry?

What about fauns and satyrs?
