I have been lifting wieghts for years. I am an ectomorph. It took 7 years to get in decent shape. I might never look like I workout.

Anyway, I hate lifting wieghts because I dont seem to make progress fast.

My next objective is getting a decent job by 30.

I'm mesomorph. I gain muscle quite fast but I do little weight lifting. Once every couple of weeks.

I am pretty jealous. I have invested WAY too much time into this and just feel I should be more muscular with all the time ive put in.

I am WORKING with 225 pounds on my bench. Most people are really built at that point. I just look like a regular guy.

I will probably feel the same way about my career someday.

They need to invent makeup that you put on to look like you have muscles.

I prefer the Bruce Lee look as opposed to the Mr Universe physique.

I'm part Endomorph and part Mesomorph. I'm a big lass. I also see myself as cute and cuddly. I love lifting weights and I like to lift the heaviest hand weights that I can manage. 15 Lbs for each hand.

I'm an ectomorph. I have a hard time gaining weight too, but I've never been much of a weightlifting guy. You have to be a weight guy in order to gain ectomorph muscle, so I don't even bother getting into it much.

Lifting weights is one of my favourite activities. It helps me relax immensely while making me look better, be stronger and healthier.

I don't like lifting weights, and I will never be beefy. But I did put on some upper body mass last year when I was lifting regularly.
Of course at 42 I also have to battle the middle age love handles and pot belly, even though I am a little skinny guy. What weight lifting did do was really jump start my metabolism. I don't diet, but I lost 35 lbs in three years while working out on weights. I also reduced my knee problems by working my legs with weights. I haven't been doing much lately, but I need to do it this winter. Mostly I just hate exercising indoors, and exercises that make me stay in one place.

I can't say that hate it nor like it yet because I haven't really started, right now I am mostly reading and learning everything I can about it, but natural body building (which includes some weight lifting) has been one of my special interests ever since I heard about Ernestine Shepherd, it would be nice to be in such a good shape at her age (she is 74 year old and still wins natural body buiding contests).

I think I mentioned this in another thread a while ago, but I found a nice website where the guy gives a lot of advices, also about nutrition, and he is not trying to sell you a bunch of stuff. http://www.scoobysworkshop.com/index.htm (p.s. the video with the dog bugging him during his workout is pretty funny lol)

I didn't know there was a term for it.

I have to be Ectomorph.

I would barely gain weight if I ate at McDonalds 7 days a week.

weight lifting is one of my special interests

I gain muscle fast, partly because of my muscle confusion...

I find if you do the same workout and increase you wont get as good as gains as if you did a different workout every single time, or atleast every other time.

I love making up lifts..though it might look very strange when I do.

I try and engage as many muscles at once as I can, reduce my time in the gym.

I do not rest except 10 seconds tops in between lifts. I do not like spending hours at the gym....I like spending 30-45min at the gym. Focused very concisely on what I am doing, and being dead tired afterward hardly able to stand.

Weight lifting is an escape for me, into one area where I do well at and can release some pent up agression.

Anyways, hang in there- if you aren't getting results try to make up your own stuff to target different areas/more areas. I find protein from foods is the most effective and not the powder drinks..but that is my personal opinion and I also worry about my liver/kidneys drinking such shakes.

I was checking Scooby's website again and I was wondering if it is possible that you work out too much?

anyway I found this page of muscle gain success stories and I think there is a few guys in there who are ectomorph, maybe they would have good advices on this website to help you gain a little more muscle http://www.scoobysworkshop.com/MuscleGa ... tories.htm

Note that I don't know the guy at all, I just found his website by chance. Note also that he doesn't advocate any type of drugs (like steroids etc) either, he is all for natural muscle gain.

Weight lifting & bodybuilding is one of my special interests, and I've been doing it for more than half my life... I used to have a big problem trying to gain muscle mass without body fat, and it was very tough to do. It's possible that you need to have your testosterone and estrogen levels checked by a hormone specialist. Not just a quick "regular doctor's" blood test, but a real hormone workup. I finally had a hormone workup after some health problems came up (trigloycerides nearly 500, and deadly, uncontrollable high blood pressure for no reason), and my testosterone and estrogen were off the charts in the wrong direction, and I was bordering on diabetic due to insulin and aldosterone levels rocketing up & down out of control! I got that all balanced now, and I'm seeing the results that a normal person would expect to see. But let me also warn you, that if you do this without a doctor, it's very dangerous and especially as someone else pointed out, an Aspie might have serious issues with bigger meltdowns. Balance is the whole key...
