I just watched my footy team, the Lions, win a very close game. It was almost a meltdown, a panic attack and an overload combined into one.

With sports and close matches, how do those with AS react? As badly as I did?

I hope this is the right forum.

I had a panic attack in the divisional playoffs vs the bears last year in overtime. Figures, the seahawks lost.

I get tense as f**k during a close football game. Who doesn't, though. Probably not as bad as me.

You don't have to be an aspie to have a meltdown watching a tight game. I've watched many people do it. My extremely social grandfather once broke his television while watching an LSU game. He learned that LSU won the game after all in the paper the next morning.

Actually this may be a good way to explain AS meltdowns to sports fans. It's like watching your favorite team screwing up against your least favorite team in the 4th quarter.

That depends on if I care about the sport. And same applies to you I am sure.

I certainly do not get up in a huff over golf. But if one unfair call goes out at a PHX Suns game or Seattle Seahawk Shawn Alexander screws up another potential TD I am out of my chair and shouting like the rest of them.

For me as an Aspie(person with Asperger's Syndrome) it has never been an issue to show my heart and love for the game. A close game is a close game and usually If it is down to the last seconds you will see me standing hands clenched shouting at the top of my lungs. When my team comes through a gig shout of triumph and success, followed by a toast. And when my team fails to pull the win you can see me doing one of two things: One(if it's a big game) holding my head in my hands sighing, then following up with a "nice try guys" beer to null the pain. Or Two(for less important games) Giving a big "Nice try guys!" salute while drinking a beer to celebrate a game well fought.

Hope this helps,

-Zane

I don't get mad in a game I'm watching. But if I'm playing Madden 08 on the Wii, and one of my receivers drops a pass, I get mad.
