No effects from an SSRI is pretty telling... If you are bipolar, it should be bad. When I was put on SSRI's I basically went into a manic fit (same effect with two different SSRI's).
I understand about negative symptoms too. It's so damn frustrating. I understand about being so crippled a lot of the time you can't move at all, or even muster up enough energy to get food for yourself. When I'm bad, a day when I'm able to read say 10 pages of a childrens book (same as what you said) is a good day. I'm definitely not well enough to work in this state.
