I'm trying to brainstorm tracks I can use in a very brief dance scene for a film class. (will feature pop&lock, liquid-tutting style movement)
But I thought I would open this thread as a chance to talk about favorite smooth dance music anyway.

The key word is mellifluous ("having a smooth rich flow")
(but NOT so smooth it falls into the "ballet", "soft rock", or "romance" genres.)

like for example ...
Ratatat — Flacon Jab http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MPtkBRcKgc
Gnarls Barkley — Feng Shui http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H39P67tAau4

Well let's see.

CSS - Alala
Shy Child - Break Your Neck
Those are both from the Forza 2 soundtrack. It's a soundtrack, so you can rip them off for your soundtrack. Or is that terribly unartistic? Still lots of good stuff in the Forza 2 soundtrack in that realm. I think the Forza 2 OST tracks would be good for say, a Hollywood movie, as they're just the right line between mainstream and not for people, which is why they're in a game, you know?

Hitomi Tohyama - Wanna Kiss
Toshiki Kadomatsu - Step Into The Light
Toshiki Kadomatsu - Move Your Hips All Night Long
Toshiki Kadomatsu - Springin' Night
That's all Japanese funk/jazz fusion, very dancey to me, but you might not like it because it's fairly old.

80s Freestyle was great music, too.
Pretty Poison - Catch Me I'm Fallin'
Debbie Deb - I Wanna Dance

I'll stop spamming links now. If anyone wants more stuff like this, ask I guess, I got gigabytes of this sort of music and listen to it often.
