I recently purchased the album "Ashes of The Wake" by Lamb of God. I saw them live and they were awesome, so I went and bought their most recent album. I've been told that it's the weakest of their 3 albums (although it does kick ass).

What kind of music is it?

It's metal, in the broad sence of the term. I had an arguement about this with someone. He said they are "hardcore with metal influence" and I told him that it's dumb to split hairs about genres. I'd just say it's metal.

Same guy told me that metal is an offshoot of punk. I disagree. Heavy metal can be traced back to the likes of Black Sabbath and Led Zepplin.... much older than any punk.
