Hey there. new guy here. I'm spamtron, I'm an Aspie, and I make chiptunes (sort-of a video-game influenced genre of music). I don't make the "exactly 8bit" style of chiptunes, as in... I don't use videogame hardware to make my songs, but I'm planning to!

So, does anyone here listen to video game music or make music in that style?

By the way, I'll post a link after I've done my 5-post thing.

Welcome to WP!

Have you done any of the NES Mega Man series?

MM 2 and 3 are the best!

Yes. I have an MP3 player full of it. Anamanaguchi and stuff.
Almost none of it is from a playable game though.
I'm not prepared to post any I've made yet because it's not on my computer.

I'm also programming a chip to do the sound and video of Doctor Who Theme.
I have no idea when it will be finished.
This isn't me but an example of what I am talking about doing. (I do look similar to this guy.)

Chiptune is AWESOME!! My personal favourite is Sabrepulse - saw him in Edinburgh not too long ago, and he was absolutely brilliant!

Whoa there, Crystal Castles aren't really chiptune at all, they just steal samples of established chiptune artists' music and hope nobody finds out.

Oh, and the things the keyboardist says about using an Atari sound-chip in his keyboard are lies, as it is nigh-on impossible to do such a thing and achieve the desired result.

i dont know if i agree with your there, i am pretty sure i heard about some keyboard kits made using two atari chips, correct me if i'm wrong...

however either way it's pretty awful to capitalise from creative commons and from the idea that if you are making music using certain gear you are somehow more authentic

I have Ataris and POKEYs (Atari 800 sound chips) and I have been able to operate a POKEY
without the Atari(with switches) to get the same sounds out of them that I get with the Atari.

I was going to put them in a home made keyboard but I found a more interesting chip.

But I have no idea whether or not a band is lieing about having them in their keyboard.
It's definitely POSSIBLE.

Welcome to WP! :D

I enjoy chiptune music also. I even make my own compositions on FL Studios in my free time.
