Do you have any words or phrases that if someone says them or says them in a certain way, you get so angry or upset that you can't continue the conversation?

Are you talking about things that are offensive in general, or personal things, like words that other people wouldn't be upset by?
There's a certain extend of that in general.. that's why there are statutes on Fighting Words.

Nucular. It makes me go nuclear. Just kidding, it's more like fingernails on the blackboard.

My eye twitches at misuse and mispronunciation of words, but it doesn't bother me any more. And I resist the urge to correct each and every one. I think the twitch is actually a sublimation of the urge to make corrections and restore balance to the universe <grin>.

Maybe the twitch actually IS restoring balance to the universe. Like when a butterfly flaps its wings in Japan and causes the weather to change in California. Cool. 8)

i don't take too kindly to being called a moron and the like.
i dont think im a mensa member but my iq tested above average at the age of 5 and i'll be damned if any regular joe schmoe who routinely believes in urban legends is gonna call ME a moron.

then again i have a hard time getting my brain to actually work. its like having a built toyota supra. all that power and i cant put it to the ground. :(

Not to hijack the thread, but loko reminded me of something I'd forgotten about. Tony Attwood mentions it also.

In middle school, other kids would call me 'stupid', which confused me, because I was smart. And it's one or the other, right? <grin> So I figured it was just a generic pejorative, and ignored it. But of course I was stupid, when I tried to do the social 'exercising' appropriate for the age group.

In the same range, I cannot stand people telling me "anyway". There is a kind of despise in it.

But I get really mad at any jokes about people's parents, they bother me alot.

No particular word or phrase, but unfair and unfounded criticism gets under my skin.
Problem is, I'm bad at dealing with confrontation - I just bottle it up til I get mad enough to explode.

I don't like it when people call me 'stupid' or related terms...

especially considering that each time I've been IQ tested, I've had much higher results than most people...
