"John" may be a perfect guy... but humans enjoy a challenge, he doesn't sound like he challenges her much.

I'm a little confused, are you saying that she's thinking dissociatively because she says she isnt sexually attracted to a guy who fits societies perception of perfection? Good Looks and success doesnt mean love.

She sounds like she's figuring out something at a young age a lot of people take a life time to figure out and that even more people never figure out.

Honestly, that guy sounds boring =P. Imperfections keep life so much more interesting and fun.

I'm confused. In what way is this dissociative thinking? I'm not saying it isn't; I just don't see the connection or understand the concept of dissociative thinking very well. If you could explain what you mean, that would help.

I second this. I clicked your link expecting to find an article which would explain the effects of PCP on human behavior and discuss the finer points of its pharmacology, but was aghast to instead find a CNN article about a woman who mused about the traits of a man who perpetuated the stereotype of masculine perfection in modern industrial society. Considerably disappointing, Coadunate.

I think for the most part people are lying to themselves when they think that physical appearance isn't important or the biggest decider in an effective, long-term relationship.

To take the edge off my statement, attraction is still a largely subjective thing.

I know very few women who find stereotypical "good looks" attractive. I like handsome hunks on my toothpaste ad, and that's where they belong ;)

(no offense to all the hunky gentelmen here :P)
