Look at the poll. Curious about where other people here were put on that scale.

When I go into the hospital my GAF is usually around 20-30 but mine varies day to day, around 30-50 range. Its so low because they say I am not based in reality (the lack of so called "reality testing" is part of the GAF being so low) occasional self harm and suicidal ideation. I didn't answer the poll because it varies more than the average person and I have had many scores. The highest ever (meaning since 1996 the first time I was evaluated at a hospital I don't remember if they scored me before then) was a 50. There are days where I am able to function somewhat, while other days I barely get out of bed and have a lot of hallucinations and can barely speak on subject.

45, about eight years ago. Don't know enough about how they calculate that to estimate it now. Things are pretty much the same now so I'd expect it to be about the same.

I also got a 45 myself. My neuropsychologist attributed it to being in a near-crisis state when I saw her (it was more of a post-crisis, but still)... I doubt I do improve much from that point, probably averaging somewhere in the mid 50's for my style of normal functioning abilities.

I didn't expect that most of you would be placed in that small range of 40-50. It goes to show that it is not wholly unique to the spectrum.

In the current state I am in now, I think it's 59.
