First post after lurking!

I have a history of depression and anxiety and see a psychoanalyst, thought I've had AS for ages, but only 'came out' about it today. She wants me to get a 2nd opinion, so will mention to my doc, but she said i was skirting around my issues, unless i misunderstood her. I dont think I have any issues, just have always been the odd-one-out (and a lot more, I feel relief after knowing about AS, and am keen to explore the possibility that I may have it...)...therapist says I'm seeking labels. I'm not, she is doing my head in, the counselling is sooo ambiguous, I need answers! I said I'd like to know 'yes or no' and she just looked at me and said I wasn't making eye contact much. DOH!

Sorry, I really had to vent this out!

I'm a bit confused... is the psychoanalyst the therapist? if yes, then I doubt she'd want you to have AS just because she wouldn't be qualified to work with you. psychoanalysis isn't the same as cognitive behavioral therapy, so you'd need to find a different specialist.

my therapy plan was far too ambitious before my AS dx. with the dx, the plan has changed.

if I were you I'd go see a neuropsychologist, or a therapist trained in cognitive behavioral work at least.
