I was on facebook on this Auditory Processing Disorder group I am on reading the posts. I saw one on cluttering and read about it, and I definitely have it and my sister and mom laugh at me all the time for it. It gets annoying because I try hard sometimes I laugh but sometimes I just wish I could say what I want with out this cluttering. I see people like doctors don't have enough information that cluttering with auditory processing disorder. But I was wondering if anyone else here had it? I don't really understand what it is but I believe it's when you run over your words. You say something but you mix it with your next word, I do that a lot. So, my question is does anyone on this site do that as well?

Thanks.

- Catherine

Yes, I have it. It is very annoying but sometimes I just ignore it.

All the bloody time, it's part of why I don't talk much.

Sometimes I ignore it as well, but my sister likes to point it out every single time I do it so it's more annoying.

I have it but it seems like another made up condition with a list of problems that are related to AS.

Occasionally. It's just part of my usual odd speech. It helps to mentally write what I'm going to say and read it off.

I have always had it but only relized it when people point it out.

Thanks everyone for answering.

No, I'm a stutterer, not a clutterer, according to the Wiki page.

Have little to no fear of their speech and are careless in speech NO
Therapy focuses on calling attention to speech details umm
Are typically outgoing or extroverted LOL NO
Typically were never very fluent YES
Do know exactly what they want to say, but it becomes disorganized while actually speaking YES
Have disorganized, tangential, grammatically incorrect speech with word substitutions YES

^ Well that's me. I used to refer to it as speech dyslexia. The wiki site said it could be ADD too.

For me it's not quick, careless speech that causes that effect; it's just that I'm trying to get things out before I forget how I was going to say them, or what I was going to say. It can end up sounding "pressured" like you would find in someone with bipolar on a mania; or it can get tangled and end up in bits and pieces of sentences scattered all over the place and somewhat difficult to understand. Under normal circumstances I have been described as "very articulate", because I have formal speech and often use my natural affinity for written language to imagine writing things before I say them.

I do have strong ADHD traits; it's not uncommon for ADHD people to talk fast to get things said before they're forgotten.

If cluttering is where you stumble on words/start saying words ahead of their order then I do that but

Clutterers:
Are very unaware of their disorder I am very aware of it
Perform better when speaking under stress NOOOOOOO
Have a hard time fluently giving long answers yes
Have hasty, repetitious, uninhibited, messy handwriting well it is messy
Have little to no fear of their speech and are careless in speech I guess yes
Therapy focuses on calling attention to speech details
Are typically outgoing or extroverted[citation needed] NOOOOOOOOOO
Typically were never very fluent[citation needed] good understanding of, difficulty using
Do know exactly what they want to say, but it becomes disorganized while actually speaking yes
Have disorganized, tangential, grammatically incorrect speech with word substitutions no
Are impatient listeners, frequently interrupt, and have poor turn-taking skills in conversation somewhat, I often guess what someone is trying to say if they get stuck, have trouble interupting others though

so I guess no I do not "suffer" from cluttering. In fact its more that stress causes the difficulty in communication, the extreme of which is being unable to talk during a meltdown, so I would guess its more related to that. That and I try and talk too fast, try and get the thoughts out of my head too fast and stumble on words.

Clutterers:

Have a hard time fluently giving long answers Especially if I'm telling a story.
Have hasty, repetitious, uninhibited, messy handwriting I have infamously bad handwriting. XD
Do know exactly what they want to say, but it becomes disorganized while actually speaking Yup...
Have disorganized, tangential, grammatically incorrect speech with word substitutions Mildly. I don't think it's too noticeable. With some company it is. I frequently forget words. So I need a bigger vocabulary.
Are impatient listeners, frequently interrupt, and have poor turn-taking skills in conversation Yep....Working on it. :/

How many of these must you have to be a clutterer?
