When I visited Toronto, I thought the place was so multicultural, it was bland. There were loads of nationalities but in that sense there were also no nationalities. It didn't seem to have any sense of itself - it was almost like: "this is a city where loads of people have just plonked themselves down and call it home".
Toronto had no identity of its own. There's lots to do but very little cohesiveness behind it all.
Publicly being foreign and acting it in the UK really would get people's backs up though. Not the "being foreign" part, but demanding that people suit to fit you. In most of Europe, the language of the country is the language of the country. Full stop.
