I have noticed dramatic changes in my dream activity since i've been on 60mg of Citalopram. While I believe we dream every night, many of us do not always remember our dreams when we wake up. Before starting on 60mg of Celexa, I could recall only a small percentage of my dreams. Now i'm having quite vivid dreams every night and I remember much about them. I have read that this is a common occurrence when taking anti-depressants and maybe SSRI's in particular. I have been on several other SSRI's and I don't recall any of the aforementioned changes (or any changes at all) in my dreams while taking those meds.

I don't find this especially bothersome as I wouldn't classify any of the dreams i've been having and remembering as nightmares. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced something like this while taking Celexa. I did not notice this while on the 20mg and 40mg doses. It started to occur about a week or so after I started taking 60mg per day. I have noticed no other side effects from Celexa nor have I noticed any changes in my depression, anxiety levels, motivation, appetite, etc...I have not seen anything about any changes in dream activity in all the literature i've read about the drug either.

I am reasonably certain these changes are due to the medication, but i've neither read nor heard anything about this when it comes Citalopram/Celexa in particular.

Interesting. My dreaming ability rebooted around about the time I got really, really depressed. I thought it was some kind of coping mechanism response, but I did use Citalopram for several months during that period, and that might account for it.

I've been on 20mg of Citalopram for 4-5 months now and I also dream vividly every night, sometimes quite unpleasant dreams. I never used to remember very much about my dreams but now somewhat dread going to sleep as even if it is not a nightmare it does still seem like a long haul till morning.

Other side effects I have experienced are ongoing tiredness and sexual dysfunction (though thankfully this lasted only a few weeks).

I'm on Celexa and I don't dream. At least I don't think I do. :? 8O
