I don't understand this article, it's too scientific.

According to that report, it would seem the difference is only slight, though statistically significant. I don't find the results terribly surprising, considering how autistic individuals are often accused of saying things "out of nowhere." Perhaps there's a relation.

A more curious question is, why should they not be a little random?

I'm always having random thoughts too or seemingly random. Sometimes I make connections between subjects people don't think about, and would at first glance appear to be unrelated. For example everyone talks about how China is going to become the world's next superpower. Very early on when people were starting to talk about this I said "wait a minute what about how global warming will lead to massive flooding and completely destroy China's economy?" I said that Canada is more likely to be the world's next superpower because coastal flooding will be offset by gains in fertile land and access to the Arctic Ocean, and everyone laughed at the idea. There are more reasons I suspect Canada is on its way to being the world's next superpower, but I don't want to get too off topic.

There's a conventional formula that other people are following where when they consider whether something is going to be a superpower they weed out information subconsciously that is deemed "irrelevant". Because the media focuses on China's "growing economy" and its military most people's brains ignore what they know about "global warming" when thinking about whether China is going to be a superpower.

I suspect that creative people have a degree of associational thinking that ties seemingly disparate things together; this could appear random at the surface.

I'd speculate that this non-neurotypical layout is simply that there are more connections off the main pathways.

When I hear something, I get "stuck" on certain elements of it.

I'll deliberately find a link to merge the topic of conversation to what's on
my mind.

I do that too. My mind is always going nonstop. I wonder if this makes it in fact more random, or just appear more random?

Same here. The seeming randomness is actually more like an illusion we are continually trying to resolve.

There are some sub-atomic particle physicists that would disagree with you. But that's an entirely different thread.
