Dude.

Buy a white t shirt and a jumbo Sharpie and write "refused" on it. Then scribble in black all over it 'til it looks totally chaotic.

I wear the same stuff every day. Computer geeks where jeans, black hoodies or shirts and black shoes. Easy and comfy.

When I go out to symphonies or have to meet customers, I go to Nordstroms and have a personal shopper dress me. My girlfriends and even my guy friends will also help me to pick out clothing.

I agree that dressing sharp and cool makes one feel that way too. But most of the time I don't care about feeling cool over being comfy...

Same style every day, but being a clean and hygiene freak, I have dozens of same-type shirts and jeans. If I sweat during the day, or have to stand near a smoker, or get anything weird on me, I'll have to change clothes ASAP. Even if I don't plan to see anybody and even if I still smell like soap. I like jeans and T-shirts (winter), and shorts & tank or muscle shirts (summer). On particularly cold days, I'll wear a thermal long-sleeve undershirt, with my same style short sleeve T-shirt over it.

I wear motocross/skater-type clothes; SRH shirts, beat-up Levi's and no-name jeans, and skateboard shoes (Etnies, DC, or DVS, etc). I also wear heavy workboots, which I like the feel of, but not all the time. Whatever I wear, it has to be CLEAN.

I dress myself in very particular ways. Like I am a doll. And i wear things that catch my eye because they're fun somehow. Sometimes I do very chic but other times I put on bizarre combinations of clothes simply because I feel like wearing them, so that i get dressed on whims. I like those days very much. Sometimes people make fun. I don't care. I'm still quite happy.

That's true but when people liked my outfits I didn't feel right in them. I prefer to be a rocker, sometimes even a punk rocker or go really oldschool emo which is V-neck jumpers and dress pants.
My hair style is usually messy. I've worn the same shoe brand for 5 years. I always get complimented on them though.
But that REFUSED shirt...do want. I hate it when things don't work out for me. I rather be myself at this gig rather than another person with skinny jeans, glasses and a scarf. The indie scene made my look conformist.

I understand what you are saying about people liking your outfits, I think. What it sounds like you may have been doing is, choosing clothes other people will like, rather than clothes you like, that others happen to also like. The style my BF helped me put together is built around what I like, first and foremost. Comfort comes first - if I don't absolutely love the texture of the fabric, I don't wear it. He, however, has taught me a lot about what colors and styles look good on me, and which ones to avoid. What we've worked out is almost aggressively fashionable - it looks very put together, but slightly over-the-top, and definitely NOT what everybody else is wearing.

As to looking like a rocker . . . I'm an old fart, so you and I probably have different ideas of exactly what that means, but I think I manage it pretty well. Think Steven Tyler and David Bowie - kinda glam, and not as young as they used to be, but pretty much the definition of "rock stars." Recently, I had a couple people pretty much freak out when I sat down near them in a park - they honestly thought, at first, that the Thin White Duke had just joined them! 8O It's hard, for me, to think of somebody who better combines "fashionable" and "nonconformist" than him, so I was quite flattered by the comparison. I can only wish I had his talent, though!

Are you old enough for Keith Moon or Pete Townshend? Actually I wish I could dress like that. I suppose I do look more late 90s-early 2000's punk rock. But the rock star look to me is pretty 60's-70's.

I could. I tempted to write 'REFUSED is better than this band' and where it to every show I go to.
There's something about having an official shirt that feels special.
I got a few other band shirts that I can choose from. I'm tempted to wear my I Killed the prom Queen hoodie though. It just feels right.
Another thing is clothes have to have a currently worn feeling to make me feel more comfortable.

Oh, yes, the new clothes syndrome. Always had to break stuff in slowly.

I tend to wear something very similar to the same thing every day. My motto is if it fits, and if I can run in it- then it's good.

It tends to freak my mom out, though, since I still fit in/wear my worn-out 3rd-5th grade clothes for the most part, and I, when (if ever) I go shopping, will gravitate towards the section of the store that is really cheap/filled with "broken" goods. Goods kind of like a shirt that had its ink messed up or a bag that isn't in style anymore.

If I'm not super-comfy casual, then I kind of go all-out in tacky stuff that is so far from conventional fashion that I've actually gotten compliments on it.

You're in the right era, but The Who wasn't all that known for flamboyant clothes. Flamboyant performances, yes! But not clothes, so much.

For my personal style, closer to Jimi Hendrix or Zepplin-era Jimmie Page. (I said flashy, didn't I?) Except that, well, I'm white, and I cut my hair eons ago. It's a spiky, almost Anime style cut now. Very definitely a, "Yeah, I'm different. So what?," kinda look. To help you picture it better, when I went to class tonight, I wore: black reeboks; ripped jeans; a purple shirt with a grey+white+dark purple paisley print with the cuffs rolled to show the solid purple backing; a black-on-black paisley sport coat; and, since it was chilly, a blue/purple/burgundy/black paisley scarf. Oh, and blackblack shades. Can't forget the shades. 8)

So, yeah. It isn't actually retro, but it still gives that kind of feeling, sorta. Cockney Rebel would probably love it!

What I look like has equal bearing to how comfortable my clothes are.
Although, I dont have a style...usually blue jeans, sweater, or cotton shirt and my tennis shoes. I wish I could wear neat shoes though, but I have bad feet problems and have to wear new balance tennies. I wish new balance made platform shoes.
Sometimes, I chose to have a style...and it is kinda multi-cultural and hand woven as I am a fiber nut.

I don't have a personal style. However I have a large closet full of clothes, but...I don't wear all the clothes. I only like my very comfortable jeans, which I have three pairs of. And I have three choices of three different house pants. All easy access however, slip on. I like t-shirts mostly and hate long sleeve shirts.

I have always had the desire the cross dress as an early 19th century gentleman.

I wish I had an urge to wear corsets and spike heels instead, then I'd fit in somewhere, even if it was just The Rocky Horror Show.

My actual dress sense is very meh,

I tried to dress like a member of The Who/The kinks when I was younger and failed miserably.
