I'm still recovering from a shut down which was a severe non-verbal type.
Then when I could get a bit of speech back I noticed I couldn't move the right side of my body. I couldn't even speak on the right side.
It kind of happened when my left arm and leg jerked and I began stimming.
I noticed that I couldn't quite hear the TV in the next room and then I couldn't hear it at all.
The right side of my neck was even sweating and it still feels warm. It still feels like I have low muscle tone there.
I felt feverish too but now it's gone. My skin is still a bit loose though.
Even my right eye is affected. But I could open it. It just looks red.
A lot of tears streamed down my face too. I didn't exactly cry though.

So I don't know if this is a shutdown or something worse.
It started off as a shutdown though I'm not sure of the trigger. Sure enough yesterday was pretty stressful but I didn't have a meltdown.
I had an earache on my right side as well as sore eyes last night.
My balance was more worse than usual too. It was ok this morning but has gone back to how it was last night. I'm shaky and have really slow movements.

Is it possible that when recovering from a shutdown you might only recover on one side?
Or should I seek medical advice immediately?
I've been really tired today.

oh girl, it sounds scary :(

I have no idea if it could be something worse or not, but I wish I knew. Maybe you could call the hospital and describe your symptoms?

Get better quickly

Sorry for such a negative first post but your description sounds quite like a stroke to me. :?

You definitely should get it checked.

Yes. This could be very serious - go to the Emergancy department straight away with someone you know and who cares for you. I really hope everything is ok for you :(

Agreed. I think you just gave us a textbook description of a stroke.

That's what I'm wondering about too.
If I had these symptoms, I'd definitely not think about posting it to the internet first.

See the doctor right away. I agree with the others, first thing I thought of was a stroke when I read this.

Hope you are ok and it was just an autistic shutdown. *hugs*

I remember a mid-aged man when I was in the hospital for my chemotherapy and his right side had been acutely paralyzed by a brain tumor.

Since you talk about this so easily I think you imply you had milder symptoms earlier which could suggest problems in the brain, get to the hospital pronto!

You might consider printing a copy of your post and going to the ER with a copy of your post right away. What you describe may be a stroke, something else like some type of the many different epilepsies/seizures, or something else. You really need to consider securing a correct diagnosis for what you experienced. Best wishes.

PLEASE go get checked out!! !! NOW!! !! !! ! If it was a stroke, you may still be undergoing further brain damage which could be stopped if a doctor identifies it. I hope that's not it, and it's probably not if you're fairly young. But it's NOT worth guessing!

The other thing most likely, from what I've heard, is Bell's Palsy. That happens when a nerve branch gets pinched near the jaw, and it causes the muscles on one side of the face to fail to work at all. It can go away by itself, but might require some physical therapy sessions, and likely a visit to the dentist to see if you have a problem with a wisdom tooth impacted and pushing near that nerve branch.

I think you may be onto something. I'm ok now. I'm still going to watch my symptoms. It may have just been a combination of medicines that triggered it. Like I said I was feeling really tired. Or it could have been stress.

I could only manage to walk over to my computer desk which is right next to the bed.
I couldn't talk and I can't drive.
How was I supposed to get to the hospital?

Call an ambulance.
Ask one of your neighbours.
Call a friend.
Call the doctor - describe the symptoms.
etc,
etc,
etc.

And if it was nothing I'd look like a hypochondriac. I wasn't sure if it had happened before. I usually can't move when I have a severe shutdown.
Do you think you could go to people during a shutdown? Even when they're sitting right next to me I don't even look at them.
Anyway, I didn't want to jump to conclusions so quickly.
I didn't even tell my own mother until this morning.
