Creep by Radiohead
Save Me by Aimee Mann

Well maybe these are more just generic misfit songs. (?)

Death Cab for Cutie: "And it is true what you said, that I live like a hermit in my own head" from "Marching Bands of Manhattan." I remember reading that Ben Gibbard's dad I believe remembered him as a little kid being extremely observant and just quietly taking everything in and the description sounded very Aspie-ish. Also the way he rocks back and forth while he sings at shows is very autistic-seeming to me. I love him and Death Cab.

I really identify with some of the lyrics in the following songs, though they are not explicitly about AS.

"Cold War" by Janelle Monae - "So you think I am alone, but being alone is the only way to be, when you step outside, you spend life fighting for your sanity" - "I am trying to find my peace, I was made to believe there was something wrong with me."

"Man in the Rain" Mike Oldfield "living in a world that you can never be a part of, and now is the time to walk away."

There are a lot of songs in the musical Wicked that I can relate to as well!

That made me think of "Isolation" by Joy Division..."Mother I've tried, please believe me, I'm doing the best that I can...I'm ashamed of the things I've been put through, I'm ashamed of the person I am."

I agree with everyone on The Smiths/Morrissey, particularly "How Soon Is Now?" I don't think I would've survived high school without The Smiths.

I also think "Dyslexic Heart" by Paul Westerberg has an AS quality to it, though not quite explicitly. It's about misunderstanding what's being communicated.

Dream Theater - Solitary Shell

That song is about autism specifically.

The song is about a kid they grew up with.

Thinking of poems of poverty
Sitting with a tight clenched wrist, thinking how to gain authority
Oh what a soft touch of a boy
He'd wander with pride to sell and keep visions to his self
Visions to his self

We'd talk of treasures, and over-rated games
We'd steal the milk bottles, sneaking through the back round Jimmy's way.
What we loved most of all, was sitting round the shop, while this poor boy was sitting all alone,
Sitting all alone

Pondering times of sanctuary
He was sitting taking his piano lessons, we were on half an E
Invested life in medicine, had so much s**t going on.
Convinced he'd never win. Convinced he was a sin.

We'd speak of women and cheaper carryouts
We'd turn up to all the festivals, trying to bring down the touts,
What we love the most of all was sittin' at the shop, while this young boy was sittin' all alone,
Sittin' all alone

We'd talk of treasures and overrated games
We'd steal the milk bottles, sneaking through the back round Jimmy's way.
What we loved most of all, was sitting at the shop, while this poor boy was sitting all alone,
Sittin' all alone

He couldn't find none of his own kind, he didn't have none of his own kind
You should take interest in his mind, not spend all of his time wastin all his money and time

What we loved most of all was hanging round the shop
What we loved most was sitting round the shop
What we loved most was standing at the Dryburgh shop,
What we loved the most was hanging round the shop while he was all alone

I'm So Tired - Fugazi

Could be linked to Depression as well as AS.

Great "happy" little ditty by a great band.

Epiphany by Staind has always been the song I related most to while growing up. It wasn’t until years after being diagnosed that I associated it with Aspergers.

The lyrics are really spot-on (in my case) with Aspie tendencies, especially regarding relationships.

Now it makes me wonder if Aaron Lewis is an Aspie. I doubt it though.
